Castillo Azul (the Blue Castle) is located safely in the gated community of Las Palmas, just outside the peaceful fishing village of Puerto Cayo. This uniquely artistic beachfront home faces due west on an isolated sugar-white sand beach, providing amazing Pacific sunsets (Dec. thru June). Then June thru October your balcony view includes breeching humpback whales traveling the coast. This luxurious home offers luxury and privacy to beachcombers and surfers alike. While there are only two bedrooms, the upstairs living room has convertible sofas and is suitable for mattresses. Because the home has stairs and a high balcony, special care should be taken with toddlers and young children. As your hostess & property manager, I am available greet you at a nearby location, acquaint you with the security entrance and give you a home orientation. I'm only a phone call away should you have any questions or need help with the home. Pto. Cayo is a peaceful, ethnic fishing village, on the edge of an important natural refuge, the Machalilla National Park. Our village is known for its beachfront fresh seafood restaurants, local festivals and archeological sites. 30 minutes to the south, the tourism town of Pto. Lopez expands your access to commercial water sports and ecotourism. One hour north along a scenic coastal highway, lies the city of Manta - offering access to malls, major medical centers, museums, an airport and the major fishing industry. Puerto Cayo is the quiet calm center you want on your vacation, that still has all the play areas within easy reach. If you like beach walking, its about a 3.5 km. amble (45 min.) from Castillo Azul to the central Puerto Cayo restaurants (if you aren't stopping to collect rocks and shells along the way.). We don't suggest the walk at midday or after dark, but you can arrange for a local taxi if you don't have a car. The national bus lines are frequent, clean and inexpensive during the day all up and down the coast. Of course, a personal car is the most convenient transportation, and rentals can be had in Manta or any large airport town. Mapping programs work fine here, and generally the highways are good.
