Post-Modern & Pottery in Historic Hyde Park

Self-contained studio with its own en-suite bathroom & private entrance. Our post-modern home (with a private bridge to nowhere!) is on a quiet winding street & backs up to the Winnakee Nature Reserve and walking trails. Minutes to Hyde Park shops and must-see historic sites of Roosevelt Estate, Valkill Cottage, and Vanderbilt mansion. Convenient to the Culinary Institute, Marist & Vassar College. The room is thoughtfully laid out to use the space in an efficient manner. Super-comfy queen size bed. There is a wall closet where you can stash your things. We do have a resident rescue Retriever named Ruby... she's quite shy, has a robust bark, but is a cream-puff. Ignore her. Her cat Chloe is also a former rescue. She lives upstairs quietly. Neither of our nonhuman family members go in the guest room. Guests also can enjoy the outdoor patio, overlooking the woods and natural areas of the neighboring nature trails. You can also relax on the bench in a private shaded nook on the rocky outcrop on the other side of the bridge. For those that need their privacy, we respect that and will become invisible during your stay. All others, we are available by chance. We would love to chat and share suggestions about the area and places to visit. Comment: Because of covid-19 situation, our interaction may be somewhat limited, but we're just a text or phone call away! Hyde Park is quite the popular historic destination, with the Roosevelt Presidential estate , the Vanderbilt mansion, and Eleanor Roosevelt's ValKill cottage, bookending the town. We are within minutes of all of the shopping, dining, hiking, kayaking and the Walkway over the Hudson. Great coffee is available at Cranberry's on Market St. For those that like corporate grinds, Starbucks is 12 minutes away towards Poughkeepsie. Kayaking... after you've had your coffee or danish. Go down three or so doors to check out kayak lessons or tours. Expert guidance is available. There is limited public transportation - You'll need your car, bicycle, or Uber. Rail transportation to New York and Canada are available at the nearby Poughkeepsie station. 3-day minimum stay. Longer term stays preferred at this time. Proof of covid-19 vaccination requested.
