The Burhacienda is a dog- and cat-friendly, 2-bedroom row-house in central Hagerstown, close to the downtown, City Park, the Cultural Arts Trail, and easy to get to I70 & I81. You have full use of the kitchen, bathroom, living and dining room, and backyard. The house is colorful, with vintage styling and original artwork. One bedroom is set up as a living space with a sofa bed that can be turned into a second bedroom. Let me know in your intro if you need the sofa bed made up for your stay. You will be staying in my former home of 8 years. I loved it and I'd still be here but my husband's home is much nicer. You will park off-street behind the house, and walk through the small but lush landscaped backyard. There are about 9 steps up to the back door. Check in independently with a lockbox. When I moved out, I didn't need to bring much with me, so the house is well-stocked. The kitchen is small but fully outfitted with all you need to prepare meals. There is a separate dining room and living room on the first floor. The bedrooms and bathroom are on the 2nd floor. The washer and dryer are in the walk-out basement. The primary bedroom is at the back of the house. The second bedroom, with the sofa bed, is set up as another living area, and has a TV with ROKU. You can watch the ROKU channel or log in to your Netflix or Amazon accounts (have your passwords handy!). The tv is NOT connected to cable. Please let me know if you need the sofa bed made up for you when you make your reservation. The yard has a patio with porch swing and a few chairs. The perennial garden has flowers and pollinators much of the year. The house is adjacent to a rail yard in the back, but it's a switching area so noise and movement is pretty minimal. Plus you might spot some amazing graffiti. The front bedroom faces out to Burhans Blvd (Route 11) so there's a good bit of traffic noise. This has always been a working-class neighborhood and the exteriors of some of the neighboring houses are on the run-down side. That doesn't mean this is a dangerous neighborhood. My co-host, Merry, is 2 doors down and she keeps her finger on the pulse of what is happening in our row. She is available if you have questions or concerns. You will have the entire house. 2 floors and walkout basement with washer and dryer. The yard is fenced along the two long sides but open to the parking area. There is parking for 2 cars. I live about 20 minutes away so I won't be available to check you in. But I am available by cell phone if you have problems. You'll be in an older, working class neighborhood, backed up to the railroad tracks. If you are at all squeamish about being in a neighborhood where some of the houses are a little run down, hit the "back button" and keep on searching. This may not be the place for you. I lived here for 8 years and love my house, I enjoy the area and the neighbors. If you keep an eye out you'll see some great graffiti, and possibly some deer. There's a diner across the street that's good for a basic eggs-n-meat breakfast. A liquor store is 10 minute walk away and a Mexican restaurant 15 minutes away. My co-host, Merry, is 2 doors away. You can walk to downtown in about 20 minutes. There are Ubers and Lyft in town also. I had cats when I lived there and I do allow guests with cats so if you have allergies that may be an issue.
