The Blue Room is 1 of 6 rooms in Casa del Encanto B&B located inside the safe, friendly fishing village of Barra de Potosi. In the heart of the village, ocean and lagoon at easy walking distance, sound of surf and tropical birds surround us . Queen bed in inner area, extra single bed on private covered terrace. Ensuite bath. Beds draped with mosquito netting, ceiling fans, tropical shade and fountains cool air & keep nature close. Room accommodates 3 persons max and has a kitchenette. This is one bedroom in an artfully designed B&B with 6 private rooms total, each with en suite bath and private terrace. Plenty of tranquil common use areas with courtyard gardens and fountains throughout. The entire house holds a maximum of 15 guests. Breakfast is served family style in a lush garden courtyard. WiFi internet connection with good speed (no charge), library of books, games and DVDs. Use of our adobe chiminea (grill) and oven for preparation of special dinners onsite, can be arranged for a modest fee with service of our authorized personnel. Our beach property is a 10 min walk from the house and provides hammocks and the services of our massage therapist for relaxing directly on the beach away from crowds. The beach and lagoon are lined with enramada-style restaurants serving fresh seafood...fantastic! These restaurants are designed for all day stays while you swim, sleep in hammocks, eat and repeat with roving musicians providing music. I respond to guest's desired level of interaction. I am there at breakfast and love conversation but also understand and respect preferences for quiet time and privacy. I live in a separate structure onsite and I or one of our staff is always available should you have a question. We have wonderful staff for housekeeping and preparation of our fresh, delicious breakfasts. Laundry services can be arranged at an additional modest fee. A unique aspect of Casa del Encanto is the bridge it provides a visitor to experience the warm and magical Mexican fishing village culture. Besides our close proximity to the beach and lagoon, many find this to be the heart of the enchantment of staying at Casa del Encanto. Barra de Potosi village is a treasure of the real Mexico (easily walked from end-to-end, beach to lagoon in 5 min). Everyone knows everyone else. The neighbors are warm, friendly people full of humor and kindness. The evenings are sweet and family-oriented with a number of local restaurants open on the street itself, serving fantastic local cuisine at extremely low prices. It´s quiet after 10:30 or 11 pm. If you want a bit of nightlife, a 25 min taxi ride will take you into Zihuatanejo. We can connect our guests with the best local providers of activities and services like ocean excursions for whale watching, fishing and snorkeling, lagoon tours, kayak rentals, horseback riding, guided hiking, and tours to local sites of interest like an active archaeological dig, nearby towns and more. We can also provide guidance on obtaining made-to-order hammocks, custom clothing from our local seamstress, buying amazing homemade flan, locally grown coffee (from the mountains four hours away), and sea salt from our lagoon. Everything is in easy walking distance in the area of the village, beach and lagoon. There is good, inexpensive public transportation for getting to Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa and to the airport by taxi or bus. Tropics means occasional mosquitoes. They are mostly a challenge during summer rainy season and are greatly reduced in November. Casa del Encanto is designed using traditional tropical motifs of palapa and tile roofs, continuous indoor/outdoor spaces, and no screens or glass. All beds are draped with mosquito netting. Fans, high ceilings, netting and regular fumigation keep it comfortable, especially important during high season (Dec-May). A sweet, orange cat named Tango is at home on this property. Barra de Potosi is a very safe place. In the midst of current, modern world concerns this special place is an oasis.
