Two bedroom, two level apartment on Historic Water Street, St. Andrews by-the-Sea. Located in an 1860's building above a storefront in the heart of the commercial district, this newly renovated apartment has water views, a full kitchen, living space with dining area, and bathroom featuring a vintage claw foot bath tub with shower. The second level features a loft space with two bedrooms - one with a king bed and the other with two twins. This apartment is well suited for couple’s romantic getaway, girls weekend, or families with older children. Located on the second and third floors, over a business that is operational during the day, for safety and noise reasons this unit is not appropriate for children under the age of 6, infants that are not mobile excepted. Due to the fact that it is on the second and third floors, it is not suitable for those with mobility issues. The third floor sleeping area is divided into two areas- a master with a king (featuring an Endy mattress) and a second bedroom with two twin beds. French doors separate the master from the second bedroom. Access to the master is through the second bedroom - an arrangement that is best suited for families or close friends. There is also a queen sofa bed in the living area which allows guests several options for sleeping arrangements. Please note that the maximum number of guests for the apartment is 4. Any exceptions to this must be approved when booking and are subject to an additional fee of $25 per night. The bathroom featuring the building’s original claw foot bathtub with shower is located on the second floor adjacent to the living area. Guests have exclusive use of two story apartment. Guests have access to the beach behind the building. There is no outside space for this apartment but the waterfront, town wharf and parks are just steps away. A grocery store, drugstore, hardware store, liquor store and many boutiques and restaurants are nearby. The host runs a shop located on the first floor of the building and is available during the day for questions, information, etc. 2016 Great Places in Canada Winner – Great Street Water Street has been the heart and soul of commercial and community life in St. Andrews by-the-Sea for over 200 years – the focal point for its 1,800 residents and 80,000 annual visitors. Historic Water Street is a part of the community of St. Andrews’ heart and identity. The pedestrian-oriented street integrates contextual urban design with open spaces and scenic views of the nearby sea. While the street’s design and architecture references the community’s over 200 years of history, the place itself has evolved to remain a daily part of residents' lives for both commercial and recreational purposes. The street is also an attraction for the community’s over 80,000 visitors each year. It houses well-frequented restaurants, shops, galleries, and other excursion opportunities. The street is also the backdrop for a weekly Farmers Market and hosts community events in all four seasons. There is no onsite parking. We have offstreet parking available at no cost for our guests in a lot one block away. Free parking is available on the street and most of the time you will find parking in front of the building or near by (no further than you would typically have to walk from a standard hotel parking lot to your room) to load and unload. Because of this we we may not be suited for those with mobility or who travel with a lot of baggage. Please note that from November 15 - April 1, over night parking on streets is restricted from 2 am to 7 am for snow removal. There is no onsite parking for this building. Parking is available on the street at no cost and we also have reserved spaces for our guests in a lot half a block away, free of charge. This apartment is located above a retail shop which operates during the day and as such is not appropriate for children under the age of 6 due to the potential for noise that may distract customers. Guests may also hear noise from below during business hours - typically 10 am - 5 pm. In addition, it is not child proofed and features open stairwells and steep stairs which may be hazardous to young children. Therefore, we do not permit children under the age of 6. The only exception to this is non mobile infants. The upstairs sleeping area’s master has French doors for privacy but access to this room is through the other bedroom with the two twin beds. Thus it is best suited for a family or close friends. Extra guests may be permitted. Must be approved at time of booking and there is an additional fee of $25 per night. Please request extra bedding for the sofa bed when booking if required. No pets - no exceptions. This is a non-smoking (anything!) property - no smoking inside or out. This apartment faces the main business area of St Andrews and you will hear street noise during business hours.
