Welcome to our House on the Hill. Lovingly restored 1900 New Englander in Kittery, Maine. Close to the best of the area--Restaurants, Beaches, Shopping, Nature. Great front porch and back deck. Views of the Cove--shimmering at high tide, mud flats at low tide. In the evening, gather around the big teak table, fire up the BBQ, turn on the twinkly lights, relax.. This is Maine--how life should be! Lots of different spaces to enjoy--covered porch in front, dining deck out back, both with views, comfortable living room, clean, bright and airy bedrooms. The house is filled with sunlight! Two full baths are complemented by the glorious outdoor shower. The house works great in many configurations: one or two families, three couples, coworkers, etc. There is a lot of personal space so you won't be on top of each other. This was a house designed and built by a shipbuilder back in the turn of 20th century. Get a feel for how things were back in the olden days! As such, the stairs in the house are steep and the bannisters are low. Since we've become only the third owners in 120 years, we have updated the kitchen and both bathrooms. Peeling away the old wallpaper and linoleum floor revealed the original plaster and wideplank pine floors. Additions include the big double guestroom (sleeps 4!). The floorplan on the second floor allows the occupants of the first and second bedroom direct access to the second floor bathroom. Guests in the third and fourth bedroom can share the downstairs full bath, or will need to walk through the second bedroom. The whole house welcomes you to pick your space. The yard is pretty expansive on all four sides, with the perimeter easy to see. There is a small closet downstairs and the attic that are locked. We are always available via phone. If we are out of town, we will have a local property manager to handle immediate concerns. The house is situated between Kittery Foreside and Kittery Point. It is central to so much the Seacoast has to offer. Seapoint Beach and Fort Foster are 'locals' beaches--seldom crowded. Portsmouth, over the War Memorial Bridge, is walkable and pleasant, offering the best views of the Piscataqua River. I-95 and 1 are close--Boston is a little over an hour away, the outlet malls are one exit down. This is a great spot in which to set up base. *This is a quiet neighborhood and we loved the people living around us. Thus, we cannot allow parties to be thrown, loud music or other noises outside after dark.. Driving around is easy. Uber is plentiful. The oldest neighborhood, Foreside, is walkable. On a case-by-case basis, early check-in and late check-out may be possible. We love that you can enjoy the house a little bit more! This is our summer house that we have lovingly restored since finding it over a decade ago. We have tried to maintain its original detail, balancing it with modern conveniences. We enjoy the opportunity to share it with you!..
