Located at the point of secluded Playa Zancudo, sitting 20m from the beach, ZWB&B perfectly overlooks the Golfo Dulce and has one of the best views of Matapalo in town. All from the enormous and recently renovated veranda, you can see species of birds, butterflies, sloths, and monkeys. Pick various fresh fruits and nuts (when in season) right off the trees. Rich in Tico culture with a laidback vibe, this secret tropical paradise awaits you. ¡Pura Vida! Guest rooms are equipped with all the basics you’d need for your Costa Rica getaway. The guest cabin (2 bedrooms & 1 bath) can sleep a maximum of 6 with one queen and four twin size beds. Perfect for large families and friend groups! Recently renovated with beautiful wood flooring, open ceilings, and exposed varnished beams, it provides a spacious comfortable feel. Television, mini-fridge, and desk spaces included. The Jack-n-Jill bathroom (which joins the two bedrooms) features a large shower with hot water, full-length mirror, and vanity space. Enjoy a fresh cup of local Costa Rican coffee with breakfast and local produce included every morning throughout your stay. Wake up to the sweet sounds of birds outside your room and waves crashing less than 100 yards away. Monkeys, Sloths, Scarlet Macaws, Parrots, Iguanas, and more have all been spotted from the large veranda. We’ve also seen whales breach in the Gulf! Keep your eyes peeled and you’ll be shocked at the spectacular wildlife and ecosystem that surrounds you. Guests have access to the grounds including all of the coconuts, mangos and citrus fruits one can handle (in season). A 2-minute walk down the public path and you are on a secluded black sand beach, many times all to yourself! Rinse and cool off in the outdoor shower after a sunny day on the beach or boat, and enjoy an afternoon snooze in a hammock on the veranda. Guests share the large veranda with the hosts; however, the main house is separate from the guest cabin, which you have all to yourselves. There is no guest access to the kitchen in the main house, but meals can be arranged for guests upon reservation. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate. Surfboards, Kayaks, SUPs, Boogie boards, Fishing and Snorkeling Gear are all available for rent upon request. The hosts live in the main house which shares a large veranda with the guest cabin. A young adventurous couple from the United States, we enjoy meeting and sharing experiences with our guests over coffee, cold beer, or even a meal upon request. We are available should you have any questions or need anything, but are also happy to give you space and privacy during your stay. Playa Zancudo is a quiet beach town where the tico and foreign cultures blend to create a unique laidback community. People smile and wave as you pass by making it a safe place to walk and meet new friends. There is one supermarket (20 minute walk) and a general store (5 minute drive) where you can find all the staples including fresh produce, snacks, and both non-alcoholic, and alcoholic beverages. Here you can also purchase sunscreen, bug spray, and souvenirs. There are a handful of great restaurants in Zancudo that serve Typical Tico Cuisine, American classics, and Italian dishes. A restaurant list is available in your room. You can opt for somewhere within walking distance, or we are happy to assist you in providing transportation. There are plenty of activities and things to do in the area! Waterfall, wildlife, whale-watching, and river kayak tours, world class fishing and surfing excursions, massages, FREE yoga and MORE! There are many options for both a relaxing and adventurous vacation. We recommend arranging activities in advance of your arrival as availability may be limited. We are happy to assist you in making these reservations! Upon arrival in San José, you have the option of taking a 45 minute domestic flight with Sansa Airlines into Golfito, or you can arrange for a taxi, bus, or rental car. It is about a 7 hour drive from San José to Playa Zancudo. If you opt for the flight into Golfito from San José, you have the option of taking a 1.5 hour car taxi or 30 minute boat taxi to Zancudo. Once in Zancudo, you can walk throughout town; however a rental car with a number of companies in Golfito is another option and transportation can be arranged with your hosts, given advance notice. A taxi service is available for day trips to Golfito, Pavones, Punta Banco, Rio Claro, Cuidad Neily, and the border town of Pasó Canoas. Boat taxis are available to Puerto Jimenez and the Osa Peninsula which contains the popular Corcovado National Park. Customized All-Inclusive vacation packages are available just for you! We recommend getting cash at the airport in San José or at one of the ATMs in Golfito. Many stores and restaurants accept credit and debit cards; however, we recommend having cash for those that do not. Nearly all tours and excursions require a cash payment.
