Casa de la Brujita - Additional Room
The fully equipped guest room is located on the ground floor of the main building. It has its own entrance and a door leading directly to the garden pavilion surrounded by plants and flowers. From there you enjoy a panoramic view of the two volcanos Irazú and Turrialba, the Turrialba valley below and down to the Caribbean Coast. Around the buildings, there are well-kept gardens with lots of flowers and ornamental plants, notably a collection of beautiful orchids. The spacious double room is ideal for a couple or also for a single person. It comes with a kitchenette and offers direct access to the garden pavilion with a hammock and garden furniture. The pavilion is an ideal place for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, but can also be used to do serious computer work. The internet connection is fast and stable. Our guests are welcome to use the garden pavilion and set up a work space there. If desired, a large table can be installed. Furthermore, guests are invited to explore our finca and learn about our plants and animals. The Ranchito, located next to the main building, is our place for social gatherings in the evening and for meals with guests. We are a Swiss/Ecuadorian couple and speak Spanish, English, German and French. Both of us have lived and traveled in various parts of the world and love to exchange stories and experiences from these places. Our guests often stay for weeks or even months. They use our place for remote work and as base from which to explore the region and also to visit other parts of the country. We are happy to assist with suggestions and advice for trip planning and sometimes make excursions together. Concerning food, our guests can be as independent as they like and prepare some or all meals themselves. If desired, we can also provide breakfast and full meals, family table style, all at reasonable cost. The location is close enough to a regional center for easy shopping, but far enough from roads and settlements for undisturbed peace. Our finca provides an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Turrialba region on foot, by bicycle (or motorbike), on horseback or by car. There is a dense network of country roads with hardly any traffic. Special attractions are rafting on the Pacuare river and serious hiking on the slopes of the two volcanoes. On the farm we grow coffee and process it by traditional methods. We also produce fruit (citrus, papaya, four kinds of banana, some pineapple, plus several kinds of local fruit) and various types of vegetables and salads. Fruit and vegetable are grown organically. Last not least, we keep about 50 free range hens. We are happy about guests who want to learn more about our agricultural activities or even want to give it a try themselves. Most of our guests arrive by rental car (2.5 hours from San José), some by bus or by taxi. We can arrange transfers from/to San José airport (3 hours) or meet guests at the Turrialba bus terminal. Our place is located above the small town of Pavones. The distance from main road and bus stop is 1km. A cost-effective and environment-friendly option for local exploration is to use a bicycle. The excellent public transport network is recommended for shopping in Turrialba (20 minutes) and excursions to other places. Guests are welcome to join us for shopping in Turrialba. The best beaches of the Caribbean coast can be reached in 2.5 to 3 hours.
