THINGS TO DO A sunset catamaran cruise is an unforgettable experience that we highly recommend you do on your Barbados holiday. Sail past some of the most luxurious properties on the island's exclusive west coast. Pause to jump into the crystal clear Caribbean sea and swim with turtles. Sip a rum punch and gaze at the incredible shades of ochre, orange and pink as the sun sets into the ocean. Glimpse flying fish leaping out of the ocean and gliding alongside the boat as you speed back to Bridgetown - it's simply magic! If you feel like an adventure, hire a car and head over to the undeveloped, windswept side of the island - it's a big contrast to the lavish west coast. Watch the unforgiving Atlantic ocean pound the shores at Bathsheba, and witness pro surfers take their chances in the world-renowned soup bowl. See quaint wooden chattel houses dotted amidst lush hillsides and banana trees lining the roadside. Keep your camera handy in case you spot a cheeky green monkey peeping out of the greenery! GOLF Home to 5 PGA Standard golf courses (Apes Hill, Royal Westmoreland, Sandy Lane Country Club, Sandy Lane Green Monkey and Barbados Golf Club), as well as a 9-hole course at Rockley Resort, Barbados has lots to offer golfers. NOT TO BE MISSED… Cool down on an underground tram ride through the beautifully illuminated limestone stalactites and stalagmites, deep pools and cascading waterfalls of the amazing Harrison’s Cave. It’s located around 20 minutes inland from Holetown and easily accessed by bus, taxi or car. Barbados’s submarine trips are a great way to discover life beneath the waves without even getting your feet wet. Spending around 40 minutes at depths of up to 150 feet, this is an unforgettable experience, viewing shipwrecks, coral reefs and shoals of brilliantly coloured tropical fish up close. Don’t miss the Friday Night Fish Fry at Oistins, a weekly social event for locals and visitors of all ages. Try freshly caught flying fish, marlin or swordfish, all cooked to perfection on the barbecue, followed by live music and dancing. If you visit the fish market during the day you can buy the catch of the day to grill in the comfort of your own private villa. Take to the seas on the Jolly Rodger sailing ship for a pirate party, or perhaps a peaceful sunset cruise along the island’s idyllic coastline. There's so much to love about the Caribbean island of Barbados: the beaches are breathtaking, the weather's near-perfect, the food is top-notch, the history is fascinating. There's a lively nightlife scene on the south coast, wild surf on the untouched east coast and some of the world's finest resorts on the fashionable west coast: Barbados has it all. Barbados is famous for its picture-perfect beaches, but there's lots to see and do right across the island. As one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, you can happily explore everything it has to offer. Stick to the coast and you'll have access to all kinds of water sports, from snorkelling to surfing and sailing. Head inland and you'll come across old plantation houses, magnificent gardens, quaint chattel villages and limestone caves. ROOM RATE LEVY Effective May 1st 2020 the Barbados Government introduced a per guest “Room Rate Levy” of 2.5% of the nightly rate capped at USD $10.00, which will be applied on all tourist accommodation. The tax that is a percentage of the rental amount (collected during booking) is to be paid by guests for their stay.
