Welcome home! Here in the heart of Puerto Rico's rainforest awaits your Private Caribbean Island Retreat. Bathe in the waterfalls and sacred springs of the indigenous Taíno ancient organic food forest.  Come enjoy this transformational experience! Let the local coquí frogs serenade you to sleep with their romantic song that fills the cool mountain breeze of the night. The roar of waterfalls near and far will captivate your attention for beauty, while sipping on your favorite beverage by the fireside. Enjoy a candlelit dining experience like never before, on your own private island in the middle of pristine waters, gushing from springs deep in this sacred Taíno valley. Surrounded by thousands of acres of uninhabited rainforest, you will experience intimacy "en la naturaleza". I will be waiting for you and your family, by the horses grazing at the top of the mountain, and escort you to your private Caribbean Island retreat, either on foot or in our 4×4 Off-Road Jeep. The choice is yours. You also have a myriad of hammocks and tents to choose from based on your individual preferences. You are free to bathe in the hundreds of private natural pools and waterfalls. I look forward to accomodating your desires for a transformational experience in the rainforest! La Finca Cucubana includes 9 acres of a beautiful rainforest preserve, descending nearly 1,000 feet in elevation from the entrance at the end of the paved road on the mountain ridge, down to the rivers deep in the valley.  It is all yours to explore. If you cross the rivers, you are on the neighboring property, a few thousand acres of pristine nature. The caretaker of the land is Cano. I don't recommend trespassing, but if you happen to come across Cano, he is a very nice local farmer. At the top of the mountain, there is a wonderful family with the last name Durán. They have been here for many generations. Any of the family members will be happy to direct you to La Finca Cucubana. Just ask for Pan Con Ájo. That is my nickname all the locals know me by. It's a name that was given to me by the Kuna Yala indigenous tribe in the Caribbean Sea when I was 10 years old. Throughout my Caribbean, South and Central America traveling, everyone knows me simply as, Pan Con Ájo. It is my pleasure to show you around the rainforest, introduce you to the fauna and flora, and help make fire for dinner. You are welcome to request complete privacy, as I have plenty of work to keep me busy on the farm at the top of the mountain. If for any reason you would like an adventure, feel free to join me for a hike or an excursion in the 4x4 Jeep to some of my favorite hidden destinations. Lolita, a 15 month old puppy, is one of our tour guides. She will make sure you always find your way back home if you follow her down any trails.  She will not return home until she is sure you have had an unforgettable experience. The neighbors are mostly just tropical birds, owls, coquí frogs, crawfish and lightning bugs. Before arriving at the entrance of the farm, you will pass several quaint homes at the top of the mountain. They are all part of the same family, Durán, who has lived in these mountains for generations.  If you are outgoing and want to make friends with the locals, the family is always playing dominoes at the corner store where La Finca Cucubana connects with the main road.  Although they are competitive and full of energy, this is there way of having fun in the evenings. They bring each other homemade fruit wines and rums to share, or you can by ice cold beer from the sweet lady that owns the store.  You can also find canned foods, and other miscellaneous items you may need during your stay. It would be our pleasure to give you a ride from anywhere on the island. There will be a fee to cover our chofer, as well as their gas and tolls round trip. $100 from Rincón or anywhere else in the West. $150 from San Juan or anywhere else in the East. If you would like to rent a vehicle, we will provide discounted rates when you book with us. If you already have transportation figured out, congratulations! We are only an hour drive from most towns in the West and 2 hours from San Juan! Come join us and find out what the rainforest is all about. You will be happy to know that if necessary, there is plenty of power available for cell phones and laptops.  I live on the property in a solar powered cabin from the 1800's. The home is equipped with a freezer, refrigerator, portable LED lights and bluetooth speakers to take down to your private retreat. You can keep the party going as long as your hearts desire. Disclaimer: Off-Grid Renewable Electricity in the jungle is a luxury and not guaranteed, although we will do our best to make sure you have power available throughout the length of your stay. Thank you for understanding.
