With incredible ocean views from your balcony (and your pillow), a full kitchen, open-air bamboo architecture, and artisan details throughout -- this is Mompiche, just the way we like it. Custom-built 2-story oceanfront bungalow in one of Ecuador's most lush and authentic coastal villages. The tiny fishing village of Mompiche has only recently been "discovered" for its world-class surfing point-- laying claim to the longest warm-water left in South America. As a result, it still retains much of the rich Afro-ecuadorian culture that makes Esmeraldas Province such a memorable experience for visitors. Nestled at the end of a sweeping crescent bay and surrounded by the jungles of Mache-Chindul Ecological Reserve, adventures for nature-lovers abound. Exuding tropical character, the Kiribati Beach Bungalow has a full kitchen, private bath with open-air shower, cozy living and dining areas, and oceanfront deck with an oversized bamboo couch and Mompiche's best view of the point. Kiribati comfortably sleeps three in the upstairs bedroom (*accessed via a treehouse-style bamboo ladder rather than traditional stairs), and can squeeze in a fourth guest on the smaller single bed down below that doubles as a couch during the day. Ocean views without lifting your head from the pillow! *Please note that parts of Kiribati give the feel of open-air living due to its unique architectural design; this is most notable in the big kitchen window above the sandy street that runs behind the beach (see photos). Guests have exclusive access to all areas within this private vacation rental. Our on-site manager Roger, aka "Cloro" as per Mompiche nomenclature, is available to interact with guests as much, or as little, as they like. We try to create a friendly, inclusive, and helpful "community" type vibe in all of our rentals. Situated at end of Mompiche's largely undeveloped Malecon, with what is hands-down the best view of its surf point and crescent bay, Kiribati offers an idyllic location for your stay. Watch the artisan fishing boats coming and going from your balcony, contemplate the waves without lifting your head from the pillow, or hang out with fellow adventurers at next-door Punto de Encuentro bar/surf gathering spot-- this is beach life in Mompiche. *For guests sensitive to noise, please note that as along the entire Ecuadorian coast, street noise can be unpredictable - we provide earplugs just in case for the light sleepers out there. Everything in Mompiche can be easily accessed by foot. "Town" consists of a friendly village that takes approximately 5 minutes to cross, the surf point that made Mompiche famous is a 5-10 minute walk past colorful fishing boats down a beautiful tropical beach, and mile upon mile of picturesque oceanfront hikes are available for exploring both to the north and south of Mompiche proper.
