Open during the winter Our single room private streamside cabins rest on the Southfork branch of Montana Creek. Built from spruce and birch cut and milled from our boreal forest site. In late July-Sept, salmon swim by your deck. We are a wonderful destination for travelers looking for a wilderness Alaskan experience. Our cabins are new, clean and sport amazing views of our stream. We do not have television or hot running water and our bathroom is a cozy outhouse. For 2017 there are three cabins on two acres of river shoreline. The cabins are separated by 100 yards of heavy vegetation. The area is extremely private. As of 2019, there is a streamside wood-fired sauna. We are Members of The Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce A Real Wilderness Cabin Experience with Sustainable Practices We strive to create a "Truly Alaskan" experience. Our riverfront, cabins sites are situated on carefully managed wilderness property in a virgin, boreal forest environment. Our cabins are perfect for any travelers with a vehicle that love to fish, hike, or commune with nature. Our streamside cabins have a sixteen-foot viewing deck where you can see an array of wildlife. Seasonally, from mid-July to September you can often see migrating and spawning salmon right from your deck. Please note this is salmon sanctuary and fishing for salmon is prohibited. There are numerous sightings of grouse, eagles, mink, fox, ducks, dippers, martins, arctic terns, and the occasional moose or bear. The cabin materials were cut within a half mile of the property, then milled and constructed just a few miles away. Even the tables and counters are handmade from the site. You'll be surrounded by up to 80- to 200-year-old growth cottonwood trees towering to 100 feet. Our sustainable solar-powered cabins with large viewing windows allow the feeling of being outside while resting in bed. Guest have commented that they have seen moose and bears laying in bed. A fire pit and a small bundle of firewood are available for your use during the summer. The cabins have a coffee maker and a gas tea kettle. Coffee and tea are supplied. Our solar-powered cabins are "dry." We have a serviced private outhouse, however, we do not have pressured running hot water. The cabins include a sink area with a large decanter of potable water with fresh towels for you to wash your hands and face and brush your teeth. Please note, that although we don't have internet wi-fi, there is local AT&T cell service that averages two to three bars.
