Welcome to the Owl's Nest, a charming one and a half story duplex centrally located in historic downtown Lancaster. Perfect for a couple or a small group travelling for either leisure or business. Walk to the Lancaster County Convention Center, Lancaster Central Market, the Fulton Theatre, Gallery Row, and more, or hop in the car to visit the attractions in Bird-in-Hand, Intercourse, Lititz or Hershey. If you need additional space, ask if we have availability at Amber's Owl next door! At 675 square feet, the Owl's Nest is small, but provides everything you'll need for your urban getaway or business trip. This home was built in the early 1800s and was recently renovated. Enjoy a charming, historic house with modern decor and amenities! The house is one side of a duplex, so you will be sharing a wall with neighbors. The upstairs bedroom is a loft, so there is no door separating the upstairs bedroom and the main living area. While there is space for four people, there isn't much privacy so take that into account when booking for a group. Please note that the house is 1.5 stories so the ceiling upstairs is slanted, especially in the bathroom. It can get tight in there, but there is a vanity area in the bedroom to make up for it. Basic shampoo, conditioner, and soap are provided. The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking tools, pots, pans, and dishes. There is a Keurig with K-Cups and creamer included. You are welcome to use the small deck right off the kitchen. We provide one parking space in a lot on the block, you will be given parking instructions upon arrival. Street parking is free on weekends but limited to two hours for visitors on weekdays, please check all posted signage when parking on the street. You can contact the Lancaster Parking Authority to purchase a guest permit if you have additional cars that you'd like to park on the street during the day on weekdays. We live just a few minutes outside the city and will be available by phone 24/7. Lancaster City is the oldest inland city in the country and is rich in history. The entire city is a historic district, with a number of buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Our immediate neighborhood is mostly a quiet residential area but is right outside the central business district where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, galleries, and shops. Most businesses in Lancaster City are independently-owned, local businesses. As small business owners ourselves, we encourage you to take advantage of Lancaster's more unique offerings! There is a robust coffee culture in Lancaster City. There are over a dozen cafes nearby, and Passenger Coffee's flagship store, which has been named the best coffee in Pennsylvania by Food & Wine Magazine, is just three blocks from the house. Lancaster City is also well known for its burgeoning culinary scene. From Vietnamese and Nepalese to French and Trinidadian, there is no shortage of delightful ethnic restaurants in town. If your tastes are more traditional, we also have wonderful a wonderful Irish pub, lots of cafes, a modern diner, and a number of fine dining establishments. There is a small distillery just two blocks behind the house along Grant Street, and a number of other breweries and craft beer bars around town. The Lancaster Central Market is just two blocks away. Open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, Central Market is the oldest continuously-operating farmers market in the country. Grab ingredients to make dinner at home, or enjoy the variety of ready-to-eat foods offered. After you've eaten your way through Lancaster City, there are plenty of art galleries and shops to enjoy. Check the kitchen for a guidebook of our recommendations! Uber and Lyft are readily accessible if you have a smartphone. There are also a number of local cab companies. Please be mindful of the low ceilings upstairs, as described above!
