Lakefront Carriage House

The carriage house is a small guest cottage just a few steps from the lake. The cottage consists of one bedroom with a queen bed, a large bathroom with shower, a full kitchen, and a great front porch with a view of the river and lake. It's in a quiet location on a private, dead end, dirt road with just three other homes. It's best suited for a single person or couple looking for a quiet escape. The cottage is cozy, convenient to the lake, and, because the huge front porch doubles as the livingroom, is geared toward those who want to spend time outdoors. Lake access is a few steps from the front door. You can fish off the dock, bring your kayak or canoe so you can explore the lake, or simply sit by the water or campfire with a book or a glass of wine. The local country store, which has all the necessities, is 2 miles from the cottage; the nearest supermarket is 9 miles up the road. There are several good restaurants within a 15-minute drive. It's a 30-minute drive to Concord (the NH state capitol) and about 60 minutes to ocean beaches or outlet shopping in Kittery, Maine. If you're a hiker, Mount Major trails are 20 minutes away, and it's an easy day drive to the White Mountain National Forest. Your hosts live next door to the carriage house. We won't bother you but will be available if there's something you need. Access to the carriage house is via a one-lane dirt road. It's unusual to encounter a car coming in the opposite direction, but when it happens there are several places along the road where a car can pull over to let the other car pass. Note that there is wifi but no television in the cottage. Sink, toilet, and shower water is filtered from the lake. We supply spring water for drinking and cooking.
