The Catskills World Resort Casino is 6 miles away. Area is being rediscovered by city "Hicksters" with weekly farmers markets, farmtotable restaurants, hiking, swimming & boating. Come see whats happening up here! 2 night stay min / 3 night min holiday weekends. Good WiFi for those needing to work away Cute cozy guest cabin in area full of Catskill activities. Cozy Catskills guest cabin located in the hamlet of Smallwood (a lake community with a cluster of seasonal and year round cabins built in the 1930's), near Bethel NY and 2 hours from Manhattan. The cabin is a large open studio and has one very comfortable queen size bed, kitchen with dishwasher, sun/living room with couch, dining area, bathroom and 2 outside terraces (with patio furniture) are located off of the sunroom. There is an area off the cabin with a slate patio and firepit as well as a comfy hammock under the pines. Perfect for a couple. The cabin is not secluded as there are other seasonal cabins directly nearby, but the property is set up to afford privacy. The style is rustic (yet updated with modern touches) with tree branches and a tree trunk as the structural beams. The cabin comes equipped with linens, towels, coffee maker, oven, fridge /freezer and dishwasher. Theres also a charcoal and gas BBQ grill. A cozy little get-a-way located near a few lakes for swimming, boating and kayaking (its not on a lake but the lakes are nearby), The village of White Lake has a few bars and restaurants on White Lake which is only one mile away. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (site of the 1969 Woodstock Concert) with its outdoor concert arena is only 5 minutes away by car (check out their website for a list of concerts/events/museum/farmers market). The Toronto Reservoir and Lake Superior with their nice swimming beaches and canoeing/kayaking are just a few minutes drive away in either direction. Delaware River rafting, ziplinning, hiking, boating, farmers markets, horseback riding, apple picking, and antique shops are found in the area. A nice little casual escape from the NYC grind. Approx 55 minutes from Bellayre Ski Resort in NY and Elk Mtn PA. A majority of guests are coming to the cabin to get away from hectic city life and relax and enjoy the country or have a romantic weekend away. I leave them be but I have a house nearby and can make myself available if needed on weekends (just text or call). The area itself has many cabins directly nearby but guests have their privacy. Bethel Woods is a few minutes drive away. Best to have a car to explore the area. One can arrive from the city on the Shortline Bus which leaves from Port Authority to Monticello NY which is approximatley 7 miles from the cabin. A taxi or car rental can then be found at Monticello for transportation to the cabin, if needed. The cabin can also be reached by Metro-North Port Jervis approx 20 miles away, which would require a car rental or taxi to get to the cabin. There are steps up to the cabin as it's on a hillside. May not be very suitable for the very elderly or those with walking issues. Note it’s a summer community with city residents enjoying their properties on weekends / so you are not fully secluded in the woods, and may occasionally hear the occasional BBQ or a neighbor mowing the lawn... The area itself has many cabins nearby but guests have their privacy. There are numerous lakes in the area, including Smallwood Lake, Lake Superior Park and the Toronto Reservoir which has a small swimming beach and great sunsets in summer. The hamlet of White Lake has numerous restaurants on the lake for eating/drinking and is one mile away. Callicoon, Narrowsburgh and Jeffersonville are nice/cute little towns to explore nearby. Bethel Woods is a few minutes drive away. Local towns have farmers markets on weekends: Barryville & Rock Hill on Saturday morning, Callicoon on Sunday mornings from May - October. There is wifi in cabin and a tv with Apple TV & Netflix access. No a/c but cabin has ceiling fan and Catskill summer nights are usually quite cool as elevation of cabin is approx 1,450 ft above sea level. Queen bed sleeps 2 and theres a couch. No parties No events No pets
