Peaceful lakefront * minutes to Ann Arbor

Just 10 minutes north of Ann Arbor you'll find a natural lakefront "garden level" unit. A perfect home base for exploring local area, hiking trails, museums, and the University. Great for football weekends, parents visiting, or just "escape from reality" weekends. After your day of exploring, you can watch the evening sky colors reflect off the lake next to a cozy campfire. By Car: • 13 min to U of M hospital, • 1 hr to Lansing, • 25 min to Novi, • 2.5 hrs to Lake Michigan. Clean and nicely decorated basement apartment with plenty of natural light. • Bedroom: queen size with fresh cotton sheets, bench for suitcases, dresser for clothes & closet in the hall. • Office: small desk and office chair. • Living room: new couch with a television for streaming your favs. • Kitchenette: refrigerator, toaster, toaster oven, hotplate, crockpot, electric fry pan, pots/pans/dishes. BBQ grill in backyard. When you arrive, you might even find some nibbles, and bread/jam, coffee and tea. It is a beautiful natural lake, with waterfowl that come to visit. Unfortunately, I can't control the lake levels -- sometimes, like this year (2021), the water is very low and puts a huge damper on kayaking. :( This season: - A Sandhill Crane couple and their 2 babies have been active in the back yard every evening and morning. -The Great Blue Heron have been hunting along the shoreline. -Lots of ducks and fuzzy babies hang around. -And I am in a battle to train the army of geese not to feed and poop in the yard (so far, I am winning). Just 5 minutes away is an all-sports-lake, Whitmore Lake --where you can rent a boat and enjoy the day on the water. *Covid-19 Update: We have been fully vaccinated and we follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. To enter your cozy place, you will walk around to the back and enter through the garage, then down the stairs to your own entrance to the fully finished very clean basement apartment. We take extra care to sanitize the space for you. You are welcome to enjoy the backyard, lake, and dock. Sip coffee on the deck in the morning and relax on the swing with a glass of wine after your day of activities. Let us know if you are interested in borrowing the kayaks (only when water level is high again) or the bike for a ride around the lake. For longer stays, the washer and dryer are available to use, just ask so we can help you with the use. Interactions with the host will be minimal. You have your own entrance to the house and we may only see each other in the backyard. However, we are there for you for any questions or a friendly conversations over a glass of wine on the deck. If weather permits and schedules work -- we may give you a tour of Whitmore Lake, by pontoon boat! Keep your fingers crossed for beautiful weather! The neighborhood is in a bedroom community with 1990's homes. Nice, friendly, quiet, and safe, it consists of families, seniors, and in-between. You will find people out walking their dogs, or just taking a stroll. It is a nice friendly area. Close to expressway, walking distance to a small town. Peaberry coffee shop is always yummy, with music on Wednesday nights. The local restaurants are casual and have outdoor seating and music in the summer evenings. By Car: 13 minutes to U of M hospital, 1 hour to Lansing, 25 minutes to Novi, 45 minutes to Detroit Metro Airport, 1 hour to Frankenmuth, and 2.5 hours to Lake Michigan beach in South Haven - nothing but sand and shopping (a favorite place of mine!) As we are fully vaccinated in this home, we will not have on masks during most interactions - but will social distance. We are happy to put one on if you are more comfortable.
