Nestled in a quiet community, our Catskills cabin is literally across the street from the Forest Reserve at Smallwood, with picturesque waterfalls, hiking and more. You can relax in the wood-fired sauna or by the fire, or deerwatch in the gazebo. Check out events at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, just 5 miles away (aka Yasgur's Farm, home of the original Woodstock!). The cabin is perfect for disconnecting in peace, and is a short drive from beautiful state parks and the Delaware River. You’ll know the second you walk in that the cabin was carefully crafted as a getaway from city life, with cozy paneled walls and warm wood planks running throughout. We've spent a lot of time updating the space for modern life, and it's a great launch pad for exploring the Catskills! The living room has a comfy Article leather sofa that you'll love curling up in, and a dining table that easily seats six (and is perfect for enjoying our stock of jigsaw puzzles and board games!). In addition to baseboard heating, there is a cozy fireplace/firepit with a stack of wood provided (please let us know if you're new to making fires, we can help!). FIOS Internet makes working from home easy, and the Roku TV can connect to all your favorite streaming services. Music lovers will enjoy our curated record collection, carefully collected to match the cabin vibe. Off the living room, you'll walk into a light-filled sun room, with a fun hammock chair among other seating options (please note the sunroom is not insulated, so is most usable from May-October). Both bedrooms have queen-sized beds with a Tuft & Needle mattress and plenty of closet space. The main bedroom also has a 32-inch Roku TV for bedtime movies. The office offers a prime working-from-home space, complete with fast wifi, extra monitor, keyboard, mouse and all sorts of cable adapters for your laptop. Many of our guests have spent their entire stay working from home at the cabin! This room can also be used as a third bedroom by converting the sofa into a double-size bed. The full bathroom is situated between the bedrooms. It has a nostalgic 50s vibe with aqua mosaic tile floors, and features a modern showerhead with steady water pressure. The second bathroom, a half bath, makes the cabin a convenient getaway for 3-5 persons, and is located right off of the kitchen. The kitchen is richly rooted in the 70s, but is equipped for the modern chef, including a KitchenAid oven, fridge and stand mixer, a dishwasher, a Cuisanart food processor, OXO coffeemaker, a range of cast iron pans, and sharp knives. There's a cozy breakfast nook that's perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or poring over cookbooks to find culinary inspiration. Outside the cabin, you can't miss the wood-fired barrel sauna and the fire pit; the screened-in gazebo is home to the gas BBQ, a great spot to enjoy the breeze without the bugs and cook up some brats or corn. If you stay more than thirty minutes, you'll likely be greeted with deer passing through! You can feel free to explore our corner-lot property, and cross the street to the Forest Reserve. If you step in at the Minnie Falls entrance, then walk down to the brook, you can even wade in the water when it's warm! The waterfalls are very gentle and the water is delightfully clear. Follow the brookside path across the bridge into the exercise park, and pick up the trail at the rear to reach the easy hiking trails (left at the iron bridge) or dog park (right, across the bridge). Please note that Smallwood's lake "beach" and swimming is reserved for members only. You can certainly walk around the lake and play in the brook by Minnie Falls though (water is great for wading!). The Toronto Reservoir, just 10 minute-drive away, is great for swimming, and Lake Superior and the Delaware River are within a 30-minute drive. We do not live locally but are 100% available on the Airbnb app and via phone call if needed. We have helpful neighbors nearby and a network of local technicians and handypersons on call should any issues arise. Our cabin is located in Smallwood, a quiet lake hamlet in Bethel, New York (just outside of Monticello). We are directly across the street from the Smallwood Forest Reserve, which includes a babbling brook, Minnie Falls (baby waterfalls!), an exercise park, hiking trails, and an enclosed dog park. We have a full online guide that will be shared upon your reservation and a printed version at the cabin. The Bethel Center for the Arts (home of the original Woodstock!) is only 5 miles away (10-15 minute drive), and hosts some huge concerts like Blondie, the Black Crowes, and Elvis Costello, as well as fun events like beer and wine festivals. The Bethel/Smallwood area is also home to Resorts World Catskill Casino, the Catskill Distilling Company, tasty local food like Big Kev's BBQ, and some great antique shops! Other awesome stuff in the area: - Hennings Local (12 miles) for inspired American comfort food at Hennings Local. It's important to have a car in Smallwood because there is no public transportation. However, if friends are joining you from elsewhere, the Coach Line USA offers direct bus service from Port Authority in NYC to Monticello, a town about 15-minutes from Smallwood. The bus trip takes about two hours. A 24-hour local taxi service is available, and Lyfts/Ubers are often around the bus station during peak hours. Port Jervis is the nearest metro station, and is about a 30-40 minute drive away. Our home is pet friendly, but we also expect that you will take efforts to ensure that our property remains undamaged. We certainly expect to vacuum up some fur, but any overt damage, stains or scratches may result in the equivalent loss of your security deposit for replacements or repairs. Please be careful with the fireplace, the flue MUST be opened if you are making a fire. Do not leave a fire unattended, inside or out! Details are in our guide, but but if you're new to this, let us know and we can walk you through it. The garage downstairs and its contents are unavailable to our guests, please do not attempt to enter as the trap door is unsafe and we have a security camera monitoring the space. Our driveway can easily accommodate two parked cars, and a third can be parked at the top of the property near the corner where the fence ends.
