Bernstein Castle

Welcome at Bernstein Castle! This castle is owned by the Almásy family for around 130 years. Experience the luxuries and the lifestyle of a time long gone, and enjoy the nature of southern Austria and Hungarian lowlands. We look forward to welcome you in our home - your hosts Andrea & Alexander Almásy The foundations of Bernstein Castle were built in the 12th century. According to that Bernstein is Castle is one of the oldest and highest castles of Burgenland (the easternmost part of Austria). The main structure that is still habitable today was built in the 16th and 17th century, during and after the Austro-Turkish wars. For rent is a bedroom in the upper level of the building. The private bathroom could not be integrated into the room itself, so you have to walk a few meters down the hallway to reach it. Rooms that are used together with the family and other guests are the baroque dining hall from the 17th century, the tea saloon, the chimney room and the inner courtyard of the castle. Experience the way of life while you are wandering through the beautiful garden surrounding the castle! At any point our guests can enjoy the privacy of their appartment, but there will always be a member of the family present to see that your needs and expectations are met. Please note that the apartment itself does not offer Wifi. Wifi is available free of charge in the tea room or by the open fireplace.
