Beyond the kitchen is a small utility room with a washing machine and additional toilet. The kitchen leads into the large lounge which has two large sofas with sufficient seating for six people. A woodburner is available for the colder periods of the year. TV supplied by Orange France, DVD, Wifi, Sonos and a CD player with aux fitting are all provided. The lounge is a comfortable cool room which is often welcome in the hot weather here. Through an internal set of French doors enter into the garden room which is a bright sunny space with a couple of wicker chairs and a large dining table with seating for six. The room looks onto the garden and pool. It's a great space for dining in the evenings or having breakfast. It is fitted with large patio doors and opening windows. The bedrooms are reached via the open staircase from the kitchen. The three bedrooms all have new kingsize beds. On this floor there is a full bathroom which has a bath with hand shower attachment, large shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin. There are numerous small towns to visit such as Brantome, Saint-Mathieu, Cussac, Chalus or you can even follow in the footsteps of Richard the Lionheart. If you wish to drive into The Dordogne area there are many beautiful villages to be found. The coast, Bordeaux, Limoges and Bergerac are all easily reached by car. Or you could just spend days relaxing by the pool. Restaurants can be found dotted around in La Chapelle-Montbrandeix, Cussac, Saint-Mathieu, Chalus (our favourites are Le Saxo in Chalus which has a magnificent fireplace and talented chef owner and La Gare, the old railway station just the other side of Cussac). Look out for the menu de jour at local restaurants which are inevitably a relaxed lunchtime feast of locally grown and prepared value meals. A typical French market can be found locally in Piégut-Pluviers and many other smaller markets, including evening markets, are open in the summer season. The market towns of Sarlat and St Cyprien are well worth the drive if you enjoy larger French markets. This is our family home. We appreciate that guests will respect and treat the house, grounds and neighbourhood accordingly. If the dates you require don't seem to be available please check with me.
