Secluded getaway! Wake up to bird song through the huge glass windows, lounge on the back porch looking over the Koi pond out onto the beautiful views, walk along 66 acres of wooded trails, jump in or fish in the 3 acre lake, relax in the oversized bathtub with candles, and cozy up in front of the wood fireplace. Hidden Lakes Ranch is a true get-away! Nestled in the woods, you would never guess that you're only 10 min from downtown Smithville, 20 min from Bastrop, and 50 min from Austin. Hidden Lakes Ranch really wants you to like it. If you want it to be fun, it’ll be fun. Want it to be relaxing? You got it. Want it to bring you together with people you love? That’s what it’s best at. The ranch can be anything you need it to be… except for a house boat. It can’t be a houseboat. Whether you are here for a family getaway, a girls weekend, a quiet retreat, or anything in between you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the home to be open, light and welcoming. There is a huge family room with large windows looking out over beautiful views. There is a kitchen stocked with everything you might need to cook. There are 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a queen pull-out couch. Two guest rooms have queen over queen bunk beds, and another guest room - accessible from outside - has a twin daybed with a pull-out trundle bed. There are board games, a guitar, satellite TV, and a mobile hotspot for Wifi. The land is what this place is all about. There are walking trails all around the 66 beautiful acres of the property. There are two lakes that are swimmable and full stocked with fish (there are two fishing poles and bait for you inside of the house). There are two cows, Rusty and Sturgill, more deer than we can count and an enormous amount of other wildlife. Don’t mess with them and they won’t mess with you. IMPORTANT: There are bugs all over the property and sometimes inside the house. While this doesn't happen often, our home is not a stranger to beetles and scorpions. The scorpions can sting you (similar to a bug bite) but not more than that. FAQ: Q: Is it comfortable? A: VERY! This is our family’s happy place, and we take extremely good care of it. We have designed it to be as comfortable as possible. Fully stocked kitchen, premium furnishings, great HVAC, TV, coffee machine… etc. Q: Do you have Wifi? A: Yes. The fastest internet we’ve found available is a Verizon Mobile Hotspot. We have done Zoom calls on the hotspot, and they have been hit or miss. We wouldn’t recommend the wifi if you have important video meetings to attend during your stay. You can also stream movies, and we have an HDMI cord that will allow you to connect a laptop to the TV. However, due to the remote location of the ranch the wifi is sometimes spotty so you may need to either download some movies ahead of time to play with the HDMI or connect with your loved ones without technology. Q: Any restaurants close by? A: Yes! There are some great restaurants like Carne Lenta (which we believe has better tacos than anywhere in Austin), Honey’s Pizza (great thin crust pizza), Your Mom’s (incredible burgers), and Comfort Cafe (unbelievable breakfast). Q: Can I check-in earlier than 4 or Checkout later than 11? A: We will do our best. Most days there’s someone checking in the same day there’s a checkout but we try & go above and beyond if this is requested. Q: Can we fish in the lakes? A: Absolutely! You can fish in either of the big lakes: The one by the house or the one with the island in the middle. When we fish on the lakes we always catch and release. Please do the same. Since this is private land, no fishing license is required. There are two fishing poles in the laundry room in the house. Both are rigged with artificial baits. Should you need anything else there is a small ice chest with artificial bait on the shelves across from the fishing poles. Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel? A: It's a ranch, it is a unique FUN experience. You’ll be “out in the country.” This comes with privacy and seclusion. There are billions of bugs, hundreds of birds, dozens of deer, and other critters that will not bother you if you don’t bother them. We are on a septic system, and we beg you not to flush ANYTHING down the toilet other than toilet paper. The lines easily clog, and it is a huge pain in the butt to get someone out to clear them. We take great care of our ranch but we expect guests to tell us if anything isn’t working properly & we will PROMPTLY respond & repair. Q: Do you do long-term or monthly rentals? A: Not at this time. We use this place often personally and have a lot of responsibilities to maintain the land. Q: Smoking? A: On the outside only & please be responsible. Kindly don’t light the house or land on fire and don’t litter. Please pick up after yourself and ash in the ashtrays on the back porch. Q: Do you allow pets? A: Not at this time. Q: Can we hold events or parties? A: No. This is a place to relax and have fun… but not too much fun. We ask that there be no events or parties on the ranch. The liability is just too great for us to allow parties. Q: Is the land safe? A: VERY. The ranch has a barbed wire fence around the perimeter with a gate at the front. We have never had any unexpected visitors. As far as wildlife is concerned, there are absolutely things that you don’t want to mess with. There are snakes, coyotes, racoons, wild pigs, etc. Be careful of where you are walking so you don’t step on a snake, and if you see other wildlife, don’t attempt to feed or mess with them in any way, and you will be safe. They are 10x more afraid of you than you could ever imagine. Q: Handicap accessible? A: No. There are 3 steps that you must climb to enter the front door and one step going out onto the back porch. It may also be challenging to get in and out of bathrooms with a wheelchair. Q: Will this be the best vacation I’ve ever had and should I book now? A: Without a doubt. Guest access When you book, you will get a gate code to get into the ranch as well as a code to get the house key in a lock box by the front door. Other things to note 1 night rentals: We do them but on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire for 1 night (Website hidden by Airbnb) will promptly respond to a reservation request. Most of the time we will respond within minutes. Hi! My name is Adee and I will be your point of contact for your stay with us at Hidden Lakes. I am here to answer questions and provide any support you may need during your stay. My intention is to give you space and privacy while also ensuring you have access to anything you may need to make the most of your trip. Hidden Lakes is nestled in Smithville - a small quaint town - amongst other large properties. The surrounding lots are 50+ acres making our land feel even more secluded. Unless you're trying, you will not encounter the neighbors. There is ample parking on the property - we ask that you keep cars on the road and avoid parking on the grassy areas.
