Cosy attic double bedroom with a table & two chairs. It has it's own en suite shower room. The house is on the waters edge in the heart of Stromness with it's wonderful old cobbled streets & lanes. It's a short walk from the ferry terminal. With a selection of small shop's closed by, a little further is a co op (it has extensive opening hours). You'll also find hotel restaurant's & cafe's close by. There's no direct vehicle access, l park myself a couple of minutes away. With it being an attic room on the second floor it may not be for people over 6ft 2 or have difficulties with stairs (though the steps are not steep). The bed is a standard double. You'll also find a small fridge, toaster & kettle, with a selection of tea's & coffee, (you'll need to bring your own milk). The pictures tell the story, the house is right on the waters edge, it has a wide sea wall, perfect for sitting on, watching the boats & wildlife come & go. It's only a few minutes walk from shops, ferry terminal/bus stop & museum. You'll also find wonderful displays in the Pier art centre. The room is nice & cosy, but you have space to move around. There's a built in cupboard which is big enough to store luggage away. You also have your own heater, so can control the temperature in the room. A washing machine & dryer can be used for a small fee per wash. Access is to the room & the outside space. There is a table & chairs that can be used. Stromness is a very peaceful place to be, & the house is very secluded even though it's in the town. Orkney has very little crime, so it's a very safe place to be. We also have a public swimming pool, it's situated at the north end of town & of course a 18 hole golf course at the south end (overlooking the Island of Hoy). The nearest bus stop is at the ferry terminal which is about 5/8 minutes walk away. There are gaps in the bus service so you do need to be aware of the timetable. The bus to Kirkwall (capital) is the X1 & takes about 30 minutes (16 miles away). There is no parking at the house, you may be lucky & find a space on the main street, which for the most part is only one cars width & widens in places for cars to pass. The street is the same as it was 100+ years ago, that's it's charm. If you go up the Back road for about 1/2 mile & turn left down a road called Springfield Crescent there are spaces there (it's where l park my car). Then it's only a few minutes walk down a lane to the house. You can hire bicycles for the day or longer just along the road. There are also car hire companies on the islands, though l would advise you sort that out before you arrive to avoid disappointment. Checking in time is generally after 4pm, but l do try to be flexible. I also have a secure outdoor space where luggage can be dropped off.
