We took over La Grange Etable in 2015, and would like you to enjoy this very good value for money gite which which has many period features including traditional fireplace with wood burner, stone work, oak beams and chestnut flooring. We have also added a beautiful decked terrace that is accessed straight from the front door. A great place to eat, drink, socialise and bbq. The ground floor is a spacious open plan living area with comfortable furnishings. UK TV, DVD and Wi-Fi provided, plus books, games and DVDs - ideal for a family holiday. There is a fully fitted kitchen area with gas cooker, fridge and microwave, large farmhouse dining table and benches. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with wardrobe and dressing table, and a twin bedroom with 2 single beds, chest of drawers and hanging space. Bathroom with roomy shower. All towels and linen supplied. The woodburner in this cottage creates a lovely cosy atmosphere for out of season breaks Private terraces, pool terraces, garden tables, chairs and umbrellas and BBQs. We have two mountain bikes for the more active!. The shared 10m x 5m swimming pool has roman steps and sun loungers, and is safety fenced. We have created a great 'den' for children underneath the decked area - an ideal hangout for younger ones! The village of Champniers et Reilhac is a few minutes away with a bar and a cafe. Nearby Piegut has a famous Wednesday market, and is 5 minutes by car. During the summer months, nearby villages host Tuesday night producers markets, with many stalls selling local food which can be cooked on the barbeque's, accompanied by live music. These have proved very popular with our guests and often described as a real taste of French family life and one of the highlights of their holiday. The beautiful town of Brantome is 40 minutes away. Limoges, Angouleme and Perigueuex are 45 minutes away. Piegut has banks, restaurants, bakers, supermarket and a post office. Nontron is a larger town with several supermarkets and a wide range of shops and a swimming pool and leisure centre. There are many restaurants close by, all offering locally produced food at great value prices. There are two stunning leisure lakes close by both with beaches and restaurants and some free water sports and free parking. Walking and mountain biking trails start on the doorstep and there are also lakes for fishing and a choice of golf courses. This is a perfect place to simply wind down and relax and enjoy a slice of French life. Well worth a visit are Oradour Sur Glane, a memorial village left untouched after a WW2 massacre, St Jean De Cole on of the loveliest villages in France, the National stud and racecourse at Pompadour. The towns of Sarlat and Bergerac have an abundance of charm and character with lovely buildings and markets. Our nearest airport is Limoges which is 45 minutes by car. Bergerac and Bordeaux can be reached within 2 hours. We are in the region of 7 1/2 hours from Calais and the new A28 has made the trip easier.
