ADK Retreat

Our guest cottage is set back in the woods and offers a great respite for those looking to get away from it all. Located on 25 acres, the property offers a tranquil wooded retreat as well as stellar views of the Adirondack peaks. Feel free to explore our fields, forests, gardens and ponds - or take a trail down to the nearby river for a swim! The cottage has a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom as well as two covered porches, one screened-in and the other one open. The living room is a great spot to gather - there is a 4 person dining table for meals, which can also serve as a dedicated working space for those looking to get some work done. There is also a Roku-equipped TV, sitting area, and a daybed. Upstairs, the spacious master bedroom has great views overlooking the forest and property. It has a comfortable queen-sized bed, a small writing desk, and an adjoining closet for hanging clothes and ironing. The bathroom houses an original Adirondack stained glass window, and a large cast-iron bathtub with complimentary bath salts and pillow. While there is currently no shower available, many guests have found the requisite bath-time to be a highlight of their stay. The kitchen is furnished with a full size refrigerator/freezer, 4 range stove-top and oven, coffeemaker and toaster. There are cast iron as well as regular pots and pans, cutting board, and all the cooking utensils you could need. There is also an additional pantry for food storage. The upper porch is a favorite spot to dine, with an additional dining area for four. It also features a twin-sized bed with netted canopy for guests looking to spend a night or two closer to nature. The cottage can sleep four people comfortably. If you are looking to book a larger group, you could consider renting the nearby space, ADK Mountain View, in addition to this space. Both locations are right on the same property, roughly 50 yards apart. Up to two pets are welcome, it is asked that if your pets are going to be left alone for any length of time in the space that they be crated. Other notes: - Laundry is available at the main house once per week for those staying 7 nights or longer. - Guests are not permitted to receive mail or packages at this address, regardless of length of stay. We will be living in the main house, approximately 30 yards from the cottage, should there be any questions or concerns. If we're out for the day, you'll have our mobile number to get in touch. Upon arrival we can give the full tour of the cottage, property, and offer up any recommendations on activities and things to do during your stay. We are located in the heart of Essex County, NY, at the entrance of the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. It is a premier location for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, offering quick access to all-season activities including hiking and biking trails, swimming and boating spots, and even a few small beaches. If you're just looking to lay low, but still get out, check out our local restaurants and pubs! While our property is a 15-minute walk into the heart of town, you'd be remiss not venture out and explore all that the High Peaks region has to offer. We are a 10-minute drive to Westport on Lake Champlain, 20 minutes to Essex and the Vermont Ferry. A 20 minute drive will get you into Keene and Keene Valley, and to a bunch of trailheads along the way. In 30 minutes you can find yourself in Lake Placid and Whiteface for some recreation, shopping, and a bustling nightlife. All of our routes are scenic, making getting there half of the fun.
