The Nest is located on the banks of Strangford Lough, in the seaside, picturesque village of Kircubbin. Step outside your front door, cross the road and you can walk along the promenade, enjoying the amazing views of Strangford Lough, Mourne Mountains and Scrabo Tower. We are located in close proximity to Portaferry and Strangford- home of two of the famous Game of Thrones doors and only a few miles from both Echlinville Distillery and the beautiful National Trust property of Mount Stewart. The Nest is as lovely and cosy as it sounds! The house is an end-terrace at the entrance to the village. Local amenities are all in walking distance. Downstairs we have a kitchen / diner with separate washing area and a cosy, snug living room. Perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring! Outside is a small yard, ideal for a bbq or alfresco dining. Upstairs are 2 light and airy double bedrooms and a beautiful bathroom with shower and bath. As we live in the village we are available for any assistance you might need during your stay! There is on-street, free parking, directly outside the property. Buses run regularly to Newtownards (11 miles north) and then on to Belfast (20 miles). Or perhaps you want to visit Portaferry and take the car ferry over to Strangford and visit the National Trust property of Castle Ward or follow in the footsteps of Saint Patrick. Buses to Portaferry run every 2-3 hours and it is only a 15 minute journey. Kircubbin is a popular area for Jet-skiing, boating and kite surfing and is a regular choice for those wanting to explore the Ards Peninsula via bicycle, walking or simply driving whilst enjoying the unbelievable beauty of this coastal area of Northern Ireland. We have a number of amazing local restaurants including the Saltwater Brig, Portaferry Hotel and the New Quays in Portavogie. All are only a few miles away from The Nest, and each specialise in turning amazing produce from the Ards Peninsula’s range of local artisan suppliers, into dishes to tantalise your tastebuds. If you travel to Portaferry and then take the ferry over to Strangford there’s even more to explore - for Game of Thrones fans, those wanting to explore more beautiful, historic buildings in the form of the National Trust property, Castle Ward or perhaps to follow in the footsteps of Saint Patrick and to follow the Saint Patrick trail around the local area. Echlinville distillery is only a few miles from the Nest and offers trips around their facility to witness the magic of making their world famous gins. They also offer afternoon tea to really allow you to relax and savour the atmosphere and beautiful location - although booking for this is recommended as it is very popular!
