3 bedrooms & 2 full bathrooms Fully furnished home about 20 - 30 minutes from Ann Arbor and The Big House. We are on Portage Lake, connected to the Huron River and the Chain of Lakes (9 lakes). Swimming, sandy bottom, 110 feet of docks, includes use of four kayaks, canoe and row boat, paddles, oars and life jackets are included. The second floor has three bedrooms and one full bathroom. Large master bedroom with king size bed and large windows facing the lake. Second bedroom has a queen size bed. Third bedroom has bunks beds - full size on the bottom and twin on top. All sheets, pillows, pillow cases and many towels are included. The first floor is open and has a complete kitchen, dining room area, living room area and sitting area. Living room area has two couches, one is a queen size bed pull-out. Full bathroom also on first floor. Smart TV in the living room. Separate laundry room with washer and dryer and fully stocked with detergents and cleaning products if you need to do laundry. Our lake is about 96 feet deep and fishing includes bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike, rock bass, smallmouth bass, sunfish and walleye. We have caught some of these, but have only seen some, like walleye and pike, caught by neighbors. Our lake covers about 644 square acres. There are designated catch and release areas on the Huron River nearby. We are near great hiking and biking, such as Peach Mountain, Pinckney State Recreation Area, Waterloo State Recreation Area, Lakelands Trail, B2B Trail and Hudson Mills Metropark. A good walk or bike around the lake is about eight miles. We will provide our maps of our favorite mountain, road and gravel road rides and hikes. Bicycles can be rented in Dexter. In winter there are plenty of marked and unmarked trails for hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. We are about 20 minutes from the Big House and we are good for football weekends. Fall football weekends are not only good for Michigan football, but Fall is a great time to use our four kayaks and canoe. The summer residents are mainly gone and there is very little boat traffic. Winter is great for cross country skiing, hiking, walking and experiencing Ann Arbor, Dexter Chelsea, Pinckney and other local towns and villages. We are a ten minute drive to Hell, Michigan (not great restaurants, but plenty of kitch - ask for John Colone - he's the "mayor" of Hell and he'll gladly let you re-new your wedding vows in the Hell Chapel). Local farmers are nearby with seasonal daily fresh picked corn, vegetables, eggs and fruit. It is a ten minute drive to pick your own blueberries (Dexter Berry Farm) and raspberries (Berry Hill Farms), depending on the season. The excellent and comprehensive Ann Arbor Farmers Market is every Wednesday and Saturday. Other local Farmers Markets include Dexter (Sat.), Pinckney (Sat.) and Howell (Sun.). There are two golf courses within a ten minute drive: Whispering Pines Golf Club and Hudson Mills Metropark and many others within a half hour drive. There are a lot of antique sellers nearby, including the Ann Arbor Antiques Market at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. We will supply very detailed lists of local restaurants, farmers markets, recreational stuff to do and a calendar of local events like county and town fairs, festivals and museums. We have several board games: Scrabble, Battleship, Risk, Chinese Checkers, Apples To Apples, Othello, Backgammon, Chess and Yahtzee. No smoking allowed inside or outside. No dogs. Guests have access to our four kayaks and paddles, rowboat and oars, sunfish sailboat, many life jackets in many sizes and 110 feet of dock, as well as BBQ and the whole house. We are less than an hour drive and are available by phone, text and email.
