Loft in Champagne - River Aisne & Argonne Forest

Close to the banks of the Aisne and the great Argonne forest, recently renovated fully equipped loft-appartment ("La Garçonnière" - 134 m2), with large terrace and private garden, in one of the outbuildings of Villers castle in the Champagne region. "Le Loft en Champagne" provides a world of its own, entirely private, with a very large and attractive balcony terrace of 26m2 with a view on its own private garden. The outfit is spacious, all modern. It contains a - bedroom with a bunkbed (10m2), - a separate WC (1.5m2) - a bathroom (5m2) with double sink and a large shower - a large L shaped room (25.5m2) with on the left a view on the Argonne forrest and to the right a view on a private woodland garden. This room, like a compact studio, has a part with twin adults beds (2m), a place to relax or watch TV, and a fully equipped kitchenpart with kitchen island/bar, allowing 6 people to dine and wine. - an entrance hall Next to La Garconnière, a very large multipurpose room (54m2) and an additional bedroom and bathroom : extra sleeping possibility for up to 8 people. (in winter up to 6 people only, additional bedroom not heated). You have acces to all the amenities of the estate, children play ground (with mirador tower, swings and slide), picnic corner, orchard, bycicles, PingPong, barbecue... The baker passes by every morning except Mondays "Le Loft en Champagne" is part of an harmonious whole at an estate of 6 ha with a park and a XVIth / XVIIIth century castle on a hill top with beautiful views on an unspoilt countryside and forests. The chateau, with at the time 400 ha, belonged until 1904 to the family of Adelbert von Chamisso, the famous French born, but German(!) poet (early 19th century), biologist, explorer and creator of Peter Schlemihl, the story of the man who lost his shadow. Adelbert was in fact born and baptised as Adelaide de Chamisso at the chateau de Boncourt, destroyed during the French revolution, hardly a mile away from this estate where his oncle lived and that survived these revolutionairy times. It is situated near the valley of the river Aisne, at the entrance of a small village, Villers-en-Argonne (with ancient church (14-15th century), a poney and horse riding club, and a goat farm), 9 km away from Ste Ménéhould ( with a spectacular sports center - 4 swimming pools, hammam, Sauna, Fitness, Wellness, Tennis), 45 km from Chalons-en-Champagne, 45 km from Verdun, 60 km off Lac du Der (Nature reserve, beeches and lots od water sport facilities), 80 km from Reims and 200 km from Paris. In the heart of the historic Argonne forest with its many WWI memorials. You are in fact in the middle of the Great War (World War I) battle fields. The start of that War 100 years ago, we are commemorating in 2014. By car! The cleaning fee includes household linen and towels. Dogs are very welcome, with some specificities - There is an extra 20€ fee / dog / stay (adjusted for longer stays 20€ / week). - Inside, dogs are forbidden to climb on the furniture. Please be carefull with furniture, particularly if raining outside, after a walk. - Outside, dogs are allowed everywhere on the property. Please always pick up their poop to avoid others to step in it. - for stays of 2 weeks or more, we ask for an extra cleaning (60€). - In the autumn / winter months (1er oct - 31 march), we ask for a contribution to heating of 30€ / stay. (adjusted for longer stays 5€/day). - Electric vehicles can be loaded on the electrical plug in the garage. To cover the costs, with an average price of 0,16€ / KWh and a battery of 10KW we ask 1,6€ / day in case of daily battery charging (=11,2€/ week).
