Room E is a "room with a view" of the Kennebec River and park, located two blocks from downtown. The room is completely furnished with L.L. Bean furniture (twin bed, floor mat) includes cable TV, full size fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, iron and board & cozy bathrobe. Access to two full bathrooms . Door accessed by digital lock & chain lock on the inside. For stays of two nights or longer complimentary L.L. Bean bicycles and kayaks are available. The rooming house is self check in. The Hallowell Historic Rooming House is a newly renovated house that was built in the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s by a philanthropist and abolitionist. There is a granite tunnel that leads from the house to the river. The third floor was used as a dormitory possibly for freedom seekers. It is a post and beam house where all of the beams have been exposed. The house is designed for long term accommodations. There is designated space in the pantry and under the counters for groceries. Each room has it's own refrigerator and there is designated space in the common refrigerator and deep freezer. Rooms are cleaned and linens changed weekly. Bathrooms are cleaned weekly. Complimentary laundry limited to two loads for short stays. Common spaces include a fully stocked kitchen, gym, seasonal outdoor kitchen, seasonal hot tub, media room with super large TV, and balcony with river view. Eight bicycles in assorted sizes, three tandem kayaks, four solo kayaks and two paddleboards are available for complimentary use. Sauna is coming soon. I do not live on the property, but I am close by and available by text. (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) There is a lot to do in Hallowell. We have a live theater, live music, many different restaurants and shops. Vaughn Woods is nearby with walking trails. The Kennebec River Rail Trail goes through Hallowell. The Kennebec River is a great place to kayak and see bald eagles soaring and sturgeon jumping. We have bicycles to use. The Kennebec Explorer bus stops nearby. For extended stays bedrooms are cleaned and linens and towels changed weekly. Common areas are cleaned weekly. Housekeeping includes dusting, polishing and vacuuming. I love to clean and make thing things shiny. Please let me know if you are sensitive to room fragrances and what size bathrobes you need. L.L. Bean sizing is generous. I have XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL. During the season for guests who stay two nights or longer, we have complimentary L.L. Bean bicycles, paddleboards and kayaks to use on the Kennebec River Rail Trail and Kennebec River. A liability release form must be signed prior to use. The rail trail stretches along the river through Hallowell for about ten miles from Augusta to Gardiner. The boat landing is just one block away and we have a kayak cart for getting the kayaks and paddleboards down to the water. The Kennebec River is a wonderful place to kayak or paddle board and an easy excursion to Gardiner or Augusta to explore their historic downtowns. There are eagles and ospreys soaring and sturgeons jumping. There is also a swimming area at the Hallowell town beach about three miles inland.
