Have Fun & Relax on Lake Minnetonka

The Orange room comfortably accommodates 2 people with a contemporary King bed. Relax or watch TV in the den, belly up to the owner's bar, or grab a cup of coffee and some granola before heading out to relax by the lake. We have 4 seasons of fun in Minnesota, so you may get to swim, watch the loons, throw in a fishing line from the dock, canoe, make friends with the local ice-fisherman, leaf-peep, roast marshmallows, build a snowman or ski across the lake! The guest bedrooms are private, and the den and bar area are shared, although the owners will typically be on the upper level of the house. The bar area has a microwave, dorm refrigerator, coffee maker, snacks and an ice machine. In order to ensure reasonable amounts of privacy for everyone, the upper level will not be available to guests unless we specifically invite you to join us. Guests can access the lower level patio, back yard and docks. The lower level bathroom will generally be for the exclusive use of guests. We will only accept reservations for both rooms at the same time if the guests are related, or part of a group of friends that are comfortable sharing the bathroom. We do not accept children under the age of 10. PLEASE NOTE: Summer, guests, we do not have space to dock any additional boats. Sorry, our dock is full. Our insurance does not allow us to rent out any of our boats, but there are a number of marinas around the lake where you can rent boats by the hour, 1/2 day and full day. We are former innkeepers, so we enjoy interacting with guests, making recommendations and providing the skinny on the Lake Minnetonka scene, local restaurants, music and recreation, but we both work and may not always be available, so our preference is for guests that are independent, low-key, respect our home and can follow the check-in instructions. We love that we are located right on Lake Minnetonka, and can explore the lake by boat, ski's or snowshoes! Check out the party scene on Big Island and explore the many unique lakeside communities. There are fun independent shops and restaurants all around the area, as well as trails for biking, running and walking. It's a quick jaunt to the Mall of America, the MN State Fairgrounds, an explosion of local breweries, Twins baseball stadium and much more. You will need a car to most easily navigate the Lake Minnetonka area. Public transit here is limited. Parking at our house is outside on the far left side of the driveway. Car rental is easy to arrange if you are arriving at MSP airport. If you opt to take a day trip into Minneapolis or St. Paul you can park and then explore via our new light rail system. Biking is also a great way to explore the lake area. Don't be surprised to see big packs of lycra-clad cyclists navigating the lake spring, summer and fall! Come winter you will see snowmobiles and cars and trucks on the lake! Wifi, cable TV, air-conditioning, linens and towels provided. Access to laundry room, canoe, fishing gear, hair-dryers, iron, ironing board, fire pit. Pontoon and speed boat excursions may be able to be arranged for an additional charge. Hosts can provide more information on this during your stay. Guests will have access to the lower level of the house which includes 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, den/living room, bar, microwave, dorm fridge, ice machine, blender, coffee maker, snacks, laundry room, two-sided fireplace, and walk-out access to yard, docks and lake. We do have a second bedroom in the lower level with one queen bed. Due to local ordinances governing airbnb use in our community, please ask us directly if you would be interested in this space, so we can determine whether we are in compliance with these regulations. (For example, a mother and son traveling together, but not wanting to share a bed.) There is a $50 extra person charge per night for this service. The upper level of the house, kitchen and upper deck are not available for guests. We will do our very best to try and be available on check-in to answer questions and welcome you to our home, but we may not always be available. We'll be happy to give you suggestions for dining, shopping, sight-seeing, etc. We are located in Lafayette Bay, near the Narrows channel on Lake Minnetonka. The Narrows separates the upper and lower portions of the lake. It is generally very quiet in our bay during the week, and gets busier on the weekends. People like to fish on the Narrows, and you might also get to see the always amusing and entertaining "dancing fisherman". Public transportation is not available on the lake, but you can Uber or Lyft. We are located about 15 minutes by car from Paisley Park, home to Minnesota's late, beloved musical genius Prince. Tours of the estate are available to Prince fans and we highly recommend!
