Charming rural cottage in an idyllic setting

Welcome to our 19th century, charming rural cottage "Skillnaden". This prehistoric place, situated only one hour drive from Stockholm, was already mentioned in the church books during the early 16th century when it was established by a farmer. The cottage has recently been refurbished, in respect to the old architectural aesthetics, and is now perfectly equipped with all the necessities needed for an amazing and relaxing countryside escape. "Skillnaden" a typical rural Swedish forrest cottage, situated only one hour drive from Stockholm. The property has a 4000 m2 garden and consist of four separate units; The main house, Meadow guesthouse and Garden guesthouse. There is also an older building on the grounds used as a storage space. The garden is what we call a typical natural forrest garden with beautiful apple and cherry trees, creating a natural path to the main house where an amazing panoramic view of the green meadow appears. There are three different outdoor seating areas; the terrace with rattan lounge furnitures and a smaller charcoal grill, the dining table opposite the main house with garden and forrest views and the small coffee table with two chairs just right outside the kitchen window. The views from the terrace overlooks the amazing meadow where one can closely experience the beautiful Swedish wildlife, where moose and deers frequently passes by during early mornings or by dawn. The Main house of aprox 90 m2 is situated on the right side overlooking the meadow: 1st floor Living room: -Two big sofas - 48" Smart TV - Huge fireplace Kitchen: - Refrigerator/Freezer - Dishwasher -Stove -Plates/glasses/cuttlery etc. -Toaster -Nespresso machine -Coffe machine -Water heater etc... Bathroom: -Toilet -Zink -Shower cabin 2nd floor Children bedroom: - Babycot -Single bed Main bedroom: -Double bed (180 cm) -Open closet WC: -Toilet -Zink -Washing machine The Meadow Guesthouse is a small red "friggebod" of aprox 9 m2 situated on the left side by the meadow and can facilitate 2 persons. - 2 bed sofas The Garden Guesthouse is situated on the left side quite close to the main gate. This old cottage dating back to the beginning of 19th century was restored into a bedroom just recently. - One beautiful handmade double bed (170 cm) -Old desk Extra info: - As the cottage is situated in a rural setting aprox 8 km from Västerås there is not many options to get here except by car. -Toilets and running water are only available in the main house. - All beds comes with clean bed linen. - Towels are provided if needed without any additional cost. - No smoking inside the properties. - Pets are welcome, but only outdoor, (as our son has a very difficult fur allergy). - Parking space for aprox 4 cars. - The entire property will be exclusively for you and your guests. - Only the mainhouse is isolated! The two guesthouses will only be available during the summerperiod when the temperature is not dropping below -0 degrees celsius. From October the guest houses will not be in use! The entire place I will be available by phone if you have any concerns or questions. The cottage is situated very close to lake Mälaren and approximately 20 minutes by car from Västerås. In our neighborhood we have our absolute favorite place "Kärrbo Prästgård", an historic vicarage with a diversity of plants, animals and people, situated only a few minutes drive from the cottage. Here you will find cows, sheep and horses grazing on the fields. During the season, a lot of wonderful vegetables are grown and sold in the little farm shop, usually open 24/7 starting from July. You pay by swish or by leaving the amount in the small milk can in the shop. Thousands of people visit this farm every year to buy food, skins and plants or just to enjoy an amazing coffee in the beautiful surroundings at the local village bakery. "Bygdens Bageri", is a stone oven bakery with a strong focus on baking with locally produced raw materials. Here you will find a uniqueness in each, dough, bread and bun. And its totally delicious! About a five minutes drive or aprox 25 minutes walk you find very nice spot called Frösåker Brygga where you can take part of the Old Norse life. Here you can learn how to bake bread over an open fire or make your own rope. On site you also find a quite large bathing platform from where you can go swimming at any time of the day. Or perhaps just pass by the nice coffee shop called Café Gudagott. The menu includes homemade cakes, lovely prawn sandwiches and their own ice cream. The coffee shop is very weather dependent, and are usually closed during very rainy days. On site you also find Culinary Academy Gudagott that offers a different dining experience for groups. About 1 km from our house you find one of Sweden's finest golf facilities, Frösåkers golf course which opened in 1989 and gets its character from its proximity to Lake Mälaren. Here you can discover a complete golf facility that offers more than just really good golf. Here you can also enjoy a great atmosphere in the clubhouse or enjoy an amazing lunch at the pub. You can only access our house by car. If guests are interested in Longterm rentals (< 1 month) please write me an inquiry when booking the first month of stay in order to check the possibilities of arranging this. The guests will be asked to read and sign a lease prior to arrival. A security deposit will also be required! Surveillance cameras are situated outside the house for security reasons.
