Suburban Serenity

Our home is a serene, clean, and comfortable place. Your extra-large room has a queen-sized bed, comfortable easy chair, dresser, desk, 40-inch smart flat screen TV, and doors that open onto the patio. Your private bathroom is right next door to your room. Our lovely 200 square foot room reflects our style - eclectic comfort and functionality. There is a comfortable queen-sized bed, dresser, desk, 40-inch smart TV with Dish Network available. (You can access your own Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. accounts), walk-in closet space, comfy recliner, full library, and a 6’ glass sliding door that opens onto the patio. The bathroom, right next door, is for your use only, and has a double sink, tub, shower and all the amenities you may require, including a hairdryer. A light breakfast will be available every morning along with coffee and/or tea. We are well suited for singles or doubles, for travelers or students doing research at the Reagan Library ( (Website hidden by Airbnb) people needing temporary housing for job transfers, motorcyclists who are about to discover Ventura County, and anyone else who would like to spend a night or two in Simi Valley, the eastern gateway to all things west and north of Los Angeles. As retired empty-nesters, we would love to introduce you to our city, our county, and our state. You are welcome to the following shared living spaces: kitchen / great room with large dining table, family room with 50-inch TV and fireplace, patio, garden swing, and fire pit (we will operate). Laundry facilities are available if needed. We will provide simple, healthy breakfast choices in the morning and a shelf in our refrigerator for your needs. (PS I reserve the right to make you a full-on healthy breakfast on Saturday morning if I feel like it!) You are welcome to use the kitchen for your light cooking needs. We will take our cue from you. We love to meet new people, but will respect your privacy. Shirley is available much of the day to greet you on your arrival and to help you with any needs. Jim is the map guru and will help you find your way to anywhere you may wish to travel. Our neighborhood is a well-established, friendly area with long-time residents who watch out for each other. It is not a silent neighborhood - there is the sound of life all around us - kids playing, some traffic, a lawn mower rumbling - but our home and back yard are a serene and peaceful interlude in the middle of suburbia. You will need to have a car if you plan to do a lot sightseeing in the greater Los Angeles area. That said, there is an intercity bus that can take you around Simi Valley. The bus stop is just 2 blocks from our home. The bus does run to the Reagan Library. We will provide a schedule if you are interested. There is also a train station in Simi that has daily Amtrak trains as well as a weekday commuter Metrolink train. Uber is readily available in Simi as well. To Reagan Library: 4 1/2 miles, 10 minutes To Train Station: 4 1/2 miles, 10 minutes To Burbank Airport: 30 minutes To Flyaway Bus Depot: 30 minutes To LAX: 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours depending on traffic To downtown LA: 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours depending on traffic To Disneyland: 1 1/4 hour to 2 hours depending on traffic To the beach: 45 min. - 1 hour. Occasionally our grown children and grandchildren will be visiting. We do not have accommodation for pets as our granddaughter has an allergy. Within a half mile of our home there is a Mexican restaurant, a Popeyes Chicken, an Italian restaurant, 3 gas stations and quick marts, and a Smart and Final grocery.
