The Black House, Islay

The Black House is a unique property situated between Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte on Islay. Designed by Lucid Architecture it was completed in 2017. It's a term time home for a family on neighbouring Jura whose children attend Islay High School to save commuting every day. It has 2 double bedrooms and 2 bunk bed rooms (ideally suited for kids). Views from the house are stunning and Islay is an amazing location for a holiday, a whisky tour or just some rest and relaxation. The house is a contemporary, architect designed detached property with incredible views across Lochindaal to Bowmore and the Paps of Jura. The house sits on a 7 acre plot at the end of a very rough 200 metre track. I’m based on the neighbouring Isle of Jura but happy to take calls and emails before or during your stay. The house is situated between Bruichladdich and Port Charlotte. Bruichladdich has a mini mart for basics and Port Charlotte has a hotel, a Spar or the Lochindaal Hotel for food. A car is essential (or a bike) as public transport is limited. Parking is available directly outside the house. There’s a downstairs bathroom with shower, a second bathroom on the first floor with bath and shower and an ensuite toilet with shower off the main bedroom. We have agreed a no dog policy with our neighbours as the house is on a croft with livestock.
