Welcome to Prichsenstadt! As on site hosts we are here offer an easy and memorable visit. The private cottage is located inside our private courtyard with free parking on-site. Steps away you will find restaurants, bakeries and butchers. If you are here for just one night or for a longer stay there is much to see and do near us. A very easy 3km drive from the A3 . NO fee for cleaning. Please read info below. We ask that you send us an approx arrival time so we can send you check in details. Your home away from home awaits you. We never charge a cleaning fee. - The Guesthouse: Our charming one-bedroom guesthouse has been enjoyed by family and friends for over 16 years. If walls could talk, this quaint house would tell stories of new experiences, great memories, and lasting friendships. Now it's time to share this little treasure with new friends to come. Built-in 1847 our small building was used as a Schnapps-House for the local villagers. Almost 200 years later it was transformed into the cutest little guesthouse in Germany. The first floor is equipped with a living/dining area, a kitchenette and a simple bathroom with shower. The living area contains a sofa bed (Standard Europen double (140cmx200cm)and can sleep up to two people. The kitchenette also offers all the necessities for enjoying a quick snack in between activities, including a microwave, fridge, sink, toaster, coffee maker, kettle as well as dishes, glasses and cutlery. A table and chairs are provided to enjoy your morning cup of coffee or a true German 'Brotzeit'. There are also a table and chairs outside for your use during warmer months. Your meals can be enjoyed at one of the 4 local restaurants (reachable within 100 steps - literally!). The second floor provides sleeping arrangements for two further guests including a large comfortable bed (210cm x 190cm((length))) and plenty of storage in a typical German 'Schrank'. The doorway into the guesthouse is on the low side. Very tall people and some of us just average height need to remember to duck a bit. - On-Site Owners: Being on-site owners allows us to assist you with all of your travel arrangements. This also gives us the opportunity to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. If you need to call home to say you've arrived safely, just tell us and we will gladly let you use our phone - free of charge of course. There are English guide books and movies in the guesthouse. But best of all we can provide you with valuable advice: We know which places are a must-see and which places can be skipped. We know the German dos and don'ts and are happy to share this information with you. And if you'd like to share your experiences or listen to ours, we'd be delighted to discuss these things over a glass of wine. Of course, if you prefer a quiet, private stay, our guesthouse is the ideal accommodation as it is enclosed within the main building's compound. Parking is available in the parking spot nearest to the garden and directly in front of the white door. - Our Little Village: Prichsenstadt is located in the north of Bavaria in the region 'Unterfranken' (Lower Franconia). The city is equipped with many historical sites. The beautiful town gate settled in between two towers welcomes you when entering Prichsenstadt's main road. Driving through reminds everyone of a classic Disney fairytale. Also situated on the main road is an old-fashioned clock tower. The bells chime every fifteen minutes as if you were at a medieval fair. Two churches can be reached with a few steps and the clergy welcomes guests. The 4 local restaurants are all found on the same main road as the guesthouse. We definitely recommend walking over to enjoy a Schnitzel and one of the many local wines available - or satisfy your thirst with a cold beer. Many of these restaurants also offer exclusive wine tastings. The vineyards, too, are just a short walk away. The town consists of two bakeries, two banks with 24 hour ATMs, and two butchers The city takes pride in its historical background. Prichsenstadt is also known for its great festivities. The 25th and 26th of April 2020 mark the annual Oldtimer Festival. This weekend the main road is lined up with antique classic cars and can be enjoyed by guests while enjoying a Bratwurst. Parking on-site is NOT available during these dates. But the Winefest is our true highlight! Between the 12th and 15th of June 2020, many visitors from all over Germany gather for this Festival. Parking for the guesthouse is relocated to the parallel street about 150m away. There is NO on-site parking at the guesthouse during these events. For the wine fest parking is not onsite from June 11th to the 17th. These dates reflect the setup times that the road is closed to traffic. Celebrate Lower Franconia's great taste in wine. A live band assures the party stays alive and we spend our day outside on the main street enjoying the music, the food and most of all the wine. The Winefest can get a bit loud, but we hope if you're visting us during that weekend you'll be out with us enjoying the party. Things To Do Near and Far: Day trips can be made to many great cities close by. Just to name a few Wurzburg (30 min), the capital of Lower Franconia, has beautiful castles from various eras - for example the Residence from the Baroque era modeled after the French Versailles (Maybe you know it from the Three Musketeers movie). Rothenburg ob der Tauben (45 min), the medieval walled city, is also a must-see. Bamberg (45 min) has the best beer around and a gorgeous city-center. Nürnberg (1 hr) is famous for its 'Christkindl Markt' and the WWII museums. Castell (10 min) is a very cute town built up on a mountain offering a beautiful view of the Franconian landscape. Geiselwind (15 min) is home of the Freizeitland amusement park. Mainfrankenpark (25 min) has many fun things to do, e.g. an IMAX, a cinema, a bowling alley and a casino. If you're here during the end of September the original Munich Oktoberfest (2 hrs) can't be missed! Frankfurt (2 hrs) is the financial capital of Europe and has some of the best shopping centers. In addition to day trips, our cute cottage is also the ideal home base for travelling throughout Europe. Popular cities to visit are: Paris (6 hrs), Prague (3.5 hrs), Amsterdam (6 hrs), Salzburg (3 hrs), Vienna (5.5 hrs), Zurich (4 hrs), Berlin (4.5 hrs), Brussels (5 hrs), Cologne (3 hrs), etc. If you need help making any arrangements for both day trips and overnight journeys, we're happy to assist. You access the property thru the large gate at the main road. We are the large blue house and the gate will be open. There is wifi on the property. You can access the wifi in the guesthouse and is suitable for small tasks as checking email, etc. We just ask that you do not use the wifi to stream. The wifi is not perfect....and can not be accessed thru the entire guesthouse. As on site owners we are here to assist you in as much as needed. We are in the main house that is approx 50 feet from the guesthouse but there is still alot of privacy and quiet. We are always ready and willing to share a beer or glass of wine on the terrace and give advice on the what to see and what to skip. We are just steps away from a bakery, butcher, bank, and 5 restaurants..... On Sundays the bakery is open until 10am. There are no train stations in Prichsenstadt and bus service is limited. It is advised to plan a trip here if you have a vehicle. There are clock tower chimes as well as church bells that are a part of our everyday life and the real charm of living in an old village. These bells are also very active and lively on Sunday mornings..... Even though we do not allow smoking in the guesthouse....you may smoke freely on the property and also in the private outdoor seating for the guesthouse.. We will consider pets, but we ask that you do not allow the pets on the furniture in the guesthouse or on the second floor. There will be a 20 euro pet fee per pet payable when you arrive. During the summer we do have a few very warm days. We provide lots of fans, ice and good advice on when to open and shut the windows....But unfortunately we cannot control the weather and the majority of us here in Germany do not have AC. We also provide cold beers to help in that situation. Most businesses are closed on Sundays. It is a good idea to check German holidays to see if the coincide with your visit. Businesses are closed on German holidays. A lot of restaurants are also closed on Mondays.
