Boschfontein Mountain Lodge Unit 4

Boschfontein Mountain Lodge is a beautiful double storey sandstone lodge with stunning views of the Caledon River Valley and the Maluti Mountains, situated 18km from Ficksburg, on the Ficksburg – Fouriesburg road. This family run self-catering lodge has 4 units and can accommodate up to 18 people. Each comfortable unit has a bathroom with a basin, shower and toilet. The shared living areas include the kitchen, braai areas, bar, lounge and verandas.Shared living areas and units are cleaned daily. Unit 4 has 1 x queen size bed in the downstairs bedroom and 2 x ¾ beds in the upstairs. The bathroom is attached to the downstairs bedroom and contains a basin, toilet and shower. Each unit has its own fireplace. Wood is provided for the fireplaces and the braai areas. Linen and towels are provided. Energy sources: solar power and gas geysers. Boschfontein Farm is a working sheep, cattle and game farm. Other activities on the farm (upon request) include: mountain trails and river walks, game drives (waterbuck, springbuck, impala, black wildebeest, zebra, blesbuck, ostriches, red hartebeest), the gong challenge, clay pigeon shooting (English Sporting Clay course), black powder shooting, Pinedene Small Arms Museum tour and cherry liqueur tasting. Guests have access to the unit they booked (two bedrooms and a bathroom), shared kitchen, bar, dining area, lounge and braai area. Guests have access to various hiking and mountain biking routes. Other areas of the farm will be made available to guests upon arrangement with the hosts (e.g. game drives, shooting range etc). The hosts live on the same farm and will be available during your stay. Ficksburg is also well known for its delicious cherries. The Ficksburg Cherry Festival and Ionia Cherry Crop Celebration are held each November. Sandstone Heritage Trust is our neighbour and is a must visit for steam train and vintage machine enthusiasts. Our farm is only 3km from the tar road and the road up to the lodge is accessible by motor vehicle. The stairs leading from the downstairs bedroom to the upstairs bedroom are fairly steep but there is a sturdy handrail secured to the wall. This should be taken into consideration if your booking is for elderly or frail guests.
