Pines at Carminowe Farm, a peaceful rural retreat
Cozy flat located at Carminowe Farm, just outside the village of Pendeen, slightly off the beaten track with no close neighbours, making it extremely peaceful and a haven for wildlife. It's a short walk to the shop, pubs and local facilities. The coast path is approximately a mile and a half away. The flat has ample parking and its own courtyard seating area. The hosts live in the main part of the house and have a border collie called Bill and a cat. The flat is part of a larger house where the owners live full-time. The living area and kitchen in the flat are semi open plan and the living area has a wood burning stove and access out to a small courtyard area. There is a sofa bed and a blind can separate this area from the kitchen and the rest of the flat, if required. The kitchen is well equipped and has an oven, hob and microwave. There is also a washing machine and tumble drier. The double bedroom is small, but has reasonable storage space and the bathroom has a bath with shower over. There is a small hall area for coats and boots. Pines is accessed down steps to the main front door of the house and then through a gate to the side. It has its own private courtyard to the rear. There are views to the sea from the parking area at the front of the property. We are on site to give advice on local activities, places to eat, etc. and can advise on pubs, restaurants, walks, beaches, shops, (and anything else you can think of!) in the area. We have also provided a selection of local information in the form of maps leaflets and guides. West Penwith is an area of granite moorland and rugged coastline with many beaches, bays and coves. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is a World Heritage Mining Site. It has more ancient monuments and sites than any other place in Britain and is rich with stone circles, standing stones, burial sites and ancient villages. Ancient field systems are very apparent in the landscape. The B (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) road from Pendeen to St Ives is known as one of the great driving roads, although it is quite tight and twisting, but is a wonderfully scenic drive and is recommended. You can walk to Pendeen village by level footpath, or over Carn Eanes for more of a challenge, and the village has a Costcutter store, post office, pubs and Lil's Chippy. The village also features Geevor Mining Museum which is quite interesting (and also has a cafe). From Pendeen Watch Lighthouse where you can park, you can take the coast path in either direction. Go left and you can walk towards old mining areas and the Crowns engine houses at Botallack, and go right and you can access Boat Cove and Portheras Cove, local beaches only accessible on foot. There is plenty of parking outside the flat and getting around is certainly easier with either a car or a good pair of walking shoes! However, there are buses from Pendeen and once in Penzance there are buses and trains to many places. From Penzance the train also has a branch line to St. Ives, and in the summer months there is an open top bus thatcomes through Pendeen and visits Zennor, St Ives, Marazion, Penzance, Porthcurno and Lands End to name but a few. You can get off and on again at any point. Finding us. Sat Nav and post code do not completely help. Our postal address is Penzance Road, but we are actually just off North Road.
