Stand-alone, self-contained cottage, 150+ years-old. Virtually everything needed for a comfortable, self catering stay. Located in a small, rural village - in the 7 Valleys region, vista is farmland & a river. The area is loved by cyclists/walkers. 2 bedrooms, walk from 1st to 2nd. Suited to a couple or family (children 10+ only ) Sorry but not great for younger children. We have been welcoming guests for 10 years - superb reviews. Your home - a 120 year-old stand-alone, 2-floored, 2-bedroom cottage in Embry - the “village that time forgot”. The Cottage is very comfortable, well equipped with free, dedicated WI-FI + UK TV & basic cooking supplies. 2 double bedrooms upstairs. Walk thru 1st to 2nd (+en-suite). 2nd shower/toilet downstairs. Max. 4 people. Downstairs you have the lounge, the well-sized kitchen (with seating for 6, fridge/freezer, electric oven/gas hob/microwave and all the cooking and eating utensils you could wish for), the laundry (washer and dryer) and storeage areas. Enjoy a drink on your garden terrace, throw a little something on the -bq, soak up the village lifestyle. Lovely walking/cycling area. All linen is supplied. Because of the open-backed stairs and the stream directly across the road, we recommend the cottage as being suitable for little people over 10. The cottage shares a large property with Kiwis (New Zealanders) who live in the grand maison. We are here to help but leave you alone ro enjoy your holiday. Safe parking is provided in the driveway of the property. The fee includes taxes, power, water, heating and move-in/move-out clean. Your holiday home is a stand-alone cottage and the entire home is yours. Parking is available on site. There is very limited bus service to and from the village. Located in the gounds of the grand-maison, one or other of your "Kiwi" hosts (we are New Zealanders) is always on hand to assist you with whatever you need. That said, we like to be left alone when we go on holiday and we extend this approach to our guests. We won't be knocking on your door every hour - but know that we are there when you need us. Embry is a chance to escape the rat-race & experience a real slice of rural French life. It is within easy driving distance of many beautiful villages, fabulous restaurants, golf courses and many historical war sites. Towns such as Bruges, Le Touquet, Montreuil are an easy drive. Paris is accessible within 2 hours drive - or take it easy and catch the train from Arras or Etaples. England is a mere one hours drive north to catch the train or ferry. There are no shops or cafes in the village yet these are only a 10-15 minute drive away through lovley countryside. Obviously you need a vehicle! Embry is known locally as "the village that time forgot". It sports a mixture of new-ish homes through to buildings dating back hundreds of years. It is rural and very peaceful (the ambient noise is usually the farmers chainsaws and tractors). The area is renowned as a favoured walking and cycling district. Many people never see the Seven Valleys (in which Embry is located) - they are in too much of a hurry to get to the big lights. Those who know it, agree that it an area of beauty and interest which should not be missed if you really want to see the more traditional side of French life. Please note: i) There is limited cell/mobile phone signal in the cottage, (usually 2-3 bars), depending on the weather. ii) You have fast and reliable, dedicated wi-fi in the cottage. For emergencies you have access to the phone in the grand-maison and we provide that phone number for you to leave with relatives, etc. iii) There are no shops or cafes in the village. The nearest place for such facilities is about a 10 minute drive. We are happy to help you plan your French experience, do bookings for you, etc. as you may require. Once your booking is confirmed we send you a "letter" which provides you with all our contact details, driving instructions, etc. We know how important holidays are and do all we can to ensure you have a wonderful experience when staying at our Kiwi cottage.
