Characterful Home in the Heart of Oundle.
This is a sympathetically restored town house in the heart of the market town of Oundle. The house sleeps six people in three double rooms: a small double on the first floor next to the family bathroom; a large double up another small flight of stairs, and a further large room (which is my workroom when I am in residence) also sleeps two. All beds have down duvets and pure cotton linen. Children are welcome, but parents need to be aware of hazards (winding staircases and low attic beams). There is a small lounge at the front of the house with an open fire (wood in the cellar), but the heart of the house is the kitchen with its Everhot cooker, underfloor heating and large table. Guests have access to the whole of the house except one bedroom. I vacate the house during guests' stay so that they have the place to themselves. I can always be reached by email or phone, and a friend nearby is available for emergences. Oundle is a pretty English market town, with every convenience within walking distance: restaurants, coffee bars, pubs, supermarkets and library. The surrounding countryside is great for walking and exploring, with many chocolate box villages and many village pubs. Many of my guests have children boarding at Oundle School, or are involved with the Stahl Theatre, which is immediately opposite the property. There is parking for one car on the property, and further free parking is easily-accessed on South Road. Buses to and from Peterborough run twice-hourly and stop a minute's walk away. No pets please.
