The "Casa del Salinero" is dated 1889 and was the former residence of worker of the saltworks. Preserving the canarian construction style, the old cottage has been renovated as rural housing. Wide stone walls protect from the wind and the eternal sun, providing the perfect temperature. The cottage is originally build according the canarian style. The wide walls are a combination of beach stones and a mix of materials where sand predominates. This particular way of building creates an harmony with the exterior landscape and a rustic and pleasant atmosphere inside. Surrounded by autochthonous flora, the simplicity of the house invites you to relax, to enjoy the contact with the earth, the water, the air, the nature... During the night, the lack of luminous contamination lets you see the intense heaven, to the last star. And full moon nights turns into magic evenings with the light of the candles. It's worth it to get up early and be delight in the sunrise. In the afternoon, the sun hides behind the mountains dying everything gold. If you're looking for tranquility in touch with nature and sea, this is your place. You won't find tourist terraces, nor beach bars nearby. Just the cottage, the sea and you. You'll have access to the whole house, garage space (where the washing machine is), garden and all the saltworks area. Saltworks are private land, surrounded by a stone wall. Casa Salinero is located only 8 km away from the airport. Framed in a natural salt mine Bocacangrejo, Playa de Vargas, Agüimes. The Southeast area is not a touristic area, the main activity in this area is agriculture. Courgettes, cabbages, potatoes and tomatoes grow in greenhouses protected from the sun and wind. The access to the cottage on a dusty rocky road through a rustic area shows authentic Canarian area which has nothing to do with the great hotels in the south of the island. The location of the house lets you get rid of urban pollution, enjoying a surprisingly quietness. Still, it is very close to "civilization" and easily accessible to establishments such as restaurants, pharmacies, gas stations and beaches. If you want to take a walk, you can go to El Burrero beach, a small fishers village. Another nearby beach is Playa de Vargas or Cabrón beach, where you can even scubba dive. Arinaga is a small coastal town nearby, with local tourism, sandy beaches and a natural pool, el Zoco del Negro. Agüimes, a charming village, is just 10km and is easily accessible. The privileged location of Casa Salinero gives easy access to the roads that connect major cities, giving the opportunity to enjoy the various entertainment options available on the island. Surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers are privileged. If you are a lover of the wind and waves in Casa Salinero, the sea is 40 meters away from the house. A treat for those who want to take advantage of every last second of the day. Playa de Vargas and Pozo Izquierdo, home of the International Windsurfing Championship, are two of the nearby places for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Since the house is within a private property, there's no specific signs to get there and it's not possible to get alone. The final way is a dusty rocky road on a rustic area among greenhouses and the key is needed to open a gate. Guests will be picked up at the meeting point to go together the final way to the house.
