Located in the old part of the medieval mountain village of Triora, this house has been completely renovated and refurnished to a very high standard, with no expense spared. There are two balconies, one from the bedroom and the other from the living area. Both have breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the valley and Maritime Alps. In 2004, Triora was rightfully included in the list of most beautiful Italian villages (Club dei Borghi Pui Belli d'Italia). There are only about 100 members. Located in the Maritime Alps, Triora is perfectly placed for those who enjoy walking or hiking. There are several well marked walks from the village itself. It is only a 40 minute drive to the seaside resort of Arma di Taggia on the Riviera dei Fiori (Riviera of Flowers). A further 10 to 15 minutes drive you can be in Monaco on the Cote d'Azur. Special interest holidays: Triora is famous for being the home of witchcraft. In the 15th century some 30 witches were arrested, convicted of causing a local famine and burnt. There is a museum dedicated to the subject in the village. The village and surrounding area is extremely picturesque and is a haven for artists. There are several mountain walks in all directions, where you will find rare birds and fauna and mushrooms. (In September there is an annual Mushroom Festival.) It has several churches, all full of historically interesting paintings and other items. There are also many neighbouring villages with histories of their own to explore. Getting there: There are two airports, the nearest Nice, about 1hr 30mins drive and Genoa about a 2hr drive away. Both airports are serviced by the budget airlines Easyjet and Ryanair. There is a regular train service from both Nice and Genoa to Arma di Taggia and a frequent bus service from Arma di Taggia to Triora. However, to explore and get the best from the area it is recommended that a car is required. The house is in the centre of the village of Triora which is pedestrian as the medieval streets are too narrow for cars. Parking is free just outside the village and it is possible to unload things in a nearby market square. Please book on about owner to see guest reviews prior to 2016 Triora: There are three bars in Triora one trattoria providing excellent Italian and local cuisine. In addition there are several good restaurants within easy driving distance. The village also has a grocery store, fruit and vegetable shop, a bakery, baking its famous Triora bread, hairdressers, hardware and electrical shop, an excellent delicatessen and various gift shops. In the next village down the Argentine valley, Molini di Triora there is a pharmacy, cash point and several other shops. In the surrounding towns and villages you will find daily markets and various festivals throughout the summer.
