Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne is 35kms from Pauliac. Its renaissance quarter has been restored with narrow, cool streets opening on to sunny squares full of cafés and small shops. Further afield the prehistoric sites of Les Eyzies and Lascaux; the châteaux of the Dordogne River; the remarkable town of Sarlat and the vineyards of Bergerac and Bordeaux are all within easy reach.
