The Giggly Gull home stay accommodation.
We are situated in the quiet, peaceful seaside area of Beachview and are happy to offer a 'home from home' experience in our spacious and comfortable guest accommodation. The pool and entertainment area in our beautiful enclosed back garden is directly accessible from the family room and bedrooms. For those wanting to experience the stunning Maitlands River mouth and beach area - a few minutes away by car - with endless coastline and interesting rock pools this is the place to be. Our guest main bedroom (Dreamy Seagull) is spacious (>9 sqm) and airy and has direct access to swimming pool and entertainment area. Alongside this is the second bedroom (Funky Seagull) which shares the en suite bathroom. By prior arrangement, a camp cot can be made available for a baby. The attractive bathroom consists of a small hand basin, toilet and large cubicle shower. The open-plan kitchen and family room area (>30 sqm) also opens directly to the pool. A wall-mounted flat screen TV in the family room (satellite TV) is available to guests. Due to our home being situated on a sloping property it is unfortunately not wheelchair friendly. The lower portion of our home - where our guests stay - is accessed via wide steps on either side of the property. Guests make use of a separate and private entrance to our home. The guest area and our living area is separated at the internal stairway by a locked door at the stairwell. My wife, Kay, and I live on the upper level and our guests have their own private entrance in the lower section of our home. We are happy to assist with any questions you may have with regards to attractions in our area, shopping opportunities or any concerns you may have with regards to safety when walking along our coastline. Our garden is frequented by many types of beautiful coastal birds. Beachview village is on the coast with a large variety of things to do: - whale and dolphin sightings are a daily occurrence (in season); - hiking in the local coastal forest is not to be missed; - take early morning beach walks along the coast; - or have a swim in the sea at Maitlands River mouth . Nearby are the Seaview Predator Game Park, various restaurants, a fuel station, a supermarket/liquor store, a laundromat, a pharmacy and a hardware store for the 'just in case'. Baywest Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in Port Elizabeth, is just 15 mins away offering all the convenience of a one stop shopping convenience. For the more adventurous guests who want to explore the wider region, there are places such as the ADDO NATIONAL ELEPHANT PARK (a must to visit if time permits), the private world famous SCOTIA GAME RESERVE, the popular world renowned surfing mecca town of JEFFREYS BAY and further afield is the BAVIAANSKLOOF WILDERNESS AREA (4x4 vehicle with high ground clearance is required). We have a contact person who could assist with the technicalities of organizing hiking outings into nearby wilderness areas if so required. No public transport is available in our surrounds but an UBER taxi could be an option. The pool area is not enclosed by fencing - we do however have a pool safety cover in place which is removed on request (drought conditions prevail in our area making it illegal to "top up' a swimming pool with municipal water - one of the reasons why the pool remains closed when not in use). The pool is unsuitable for children who cannot swim; adult supervision is essential. The pool is used at own risk. Whilst we have a policy of "no guest pets allowed", we are flexible to discuss possible options for small breed dogs. We do not allow smoking inside the guest house or near living areas. The closest beach area and the rock pools are an approximate 10 minute walk away (it's all down hill going but all up hill coming back so allow at least 25 minutes on return) - it is suggested however that you use your vehicle.
