The principal house is the original “Maison de Maitre” which has been luxuriously converted into a magnificent home for eight guests. The owners have lovingly created the feeling of a contemporary boutique hotel in the comfort of their own historical residence. The house is spacious and superbly comfortable with four double bedrooms with four ensuite bathrooms. Two principal bathrooms have baths and also separate showers. Two other bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms. Two guest WCs and a large utility room on ground floor. A family can choose to gather together in the relaxing music lounge, beautiful dining room or sunny terrace, or take some space and “time out” in the elegant library with its large selection of books, peaceful “zen garden”, or catch up with the latest movies in the cinema. No expense has been spared in the furnishings and the comforts provided, including Egyptian cotton sheets on all beds, hotel-quality bath and pool towels and a well equipped kitchen with a Falcon range cooker and gas hob, two dishwashers, microwave and a large central island - perfect for keen cooks. Although alternatively the housekeeper is also a professional chef and available to hire to prepare a meal to remember!. The owner is a keen musician and there is a CAT5 sound system, wired throughout the house, which can play Sonos and other sound sources through speakers in all the rooms (all controllable through a mobile phone app). In the large music lounge there is a Broadwood concert grand piano, and a real treat is the cinema with eight large seats with 4k projector where HD videos, Sky TV and Apple TV can all be watched in total comfort. Pool house or "The Pigennier" hosts all pool equipment room and is also a gym, a pool bar (with WC), hammam (steam room). The property is located on the edge of a little hamlet, the nearest village is only 3km away and features a boulangerie, a pharmacy, a bank and a couple of grocery stores including a family-owned business selling local artisan products. Just ten minutes away is the historic town Gaillac, famous world-wide for its fine wines using rare grape varieties, which you can sample in the town’s Maisons des Vins or surrounding vineyards. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Albi is 25 minutes away and you can also discover a wealth of idyllic hilltop bastide villages nearby such as Castelnau-de-Montmiral, Cordes-sur-Ciel, Puycelci and Bruniquel, some of which are classified as France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. If you’re craving city life, head to Toulouse or even Carcassonne, both worthy of a fine day out.
