According to legend, Lake Karujärv got its name after 7 bears fought here. To make them stop, God made it rain so heavily that the lake was created. The bears went away, each one in their own direction, and that is why the lake has 7 gulfs. The sandy beach of Lake Karujärv is perfect for enjoying the summer and relaxing on the camping site. MÄNDJALA BEACH Mändjala beach is the southernmost beach in Estonia. If the sun becomes too intense or you get thirsty, a beach bar, beach chairs and hammocks hung between pine trees are waiting for you. Much of the beautiful and rarely visited western coast of the Tagamõisa Peninsula is protected as part of Vilsandi National Park, including the Harilaid Peninsula. At its northwestern tip (accessible only on foot) is the striking Kiipsaare lighthouse, which due to beach erosion now sits about 30 m out to sea. The erosion has caused the lighthouse to develop a visible lean, although it periodically corrects itself as the sands shift. The Tagamõisa Peninsula (formerly the Tagala Peninsula) is located in the northwestern part of Saaremaa, remaining in the territory of Saaremaa rural municipality. Tagamõisa is the second largest peninsula in Saaremaa. It is known that before World War II the Sõrve and Tagamõisa peninsula were among the most densely populated habitats in Saaremaa. The soil in this area is rather poor, but the sea is rich again - most of the food and income was provided to the islanders by the sea. Around the beginning of the Common Era, a massive stone wall was built around the Lake Kaali. The many findings of the bones of domestic animals give a reason to believe that it used to be a sacrificial site. Kaali Visitor Centre is in Kaali meteorite field.
