Note: This is a Hostless stay. Willow Cottage (Pet Friendly) has access to the whole pear farm and is on the banks of the largest dam in the Western Cape. Your stay also includes a private dam and picnic area to relax at. We are neighbours to Theewater Sports Club where one can sail, swim, fish and boat and close by is wine and beer tasting, and restaurants. We are 2kms from Villiersdorp and a short drive accesses all surrounding towns. You can request single night stays and late checkout too :) The cottages are well equipped with a cosy kitchen cum dining / lounge area that has a very comfortable day bed with under bed for extra guests (more suited to one person or two children). It is equipped with a fridge/ freezer, one plate induction stove, microwave, small convection oven and outside barbecue facilities with a complimentary stack of wood (should last three cooking sessions). Backup gas stove in the kitchen for when power goes down. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable, with block out curtains to make sure you sleep well, and can wake up to heated towels in the en-suite bathroom with tub and shower. Many attractions are close by, such as the only Smokehouse (tours and picnics available) in the valley, wine and beer tasting, an alpaca farm, golf club, sailing and boating, Franschhoek, Greyton, Hermanus are a short distance away, and much more... We are near to the main road that feeds the town, so it can be a bit noisy during peak times when us farmers are busy ferrying staff and produce. End February through April is harvest time when it is busiest. Very quiet at night and on weekends when the frogs start singing. If this may be an issue for you please check on a satellite image, bearing in mind that as of end 2020 the Theewaterskloof Dam is full :). A private pear dam for swimming, barbecuing and relaxing with private picnic area, the whole farm and the Theewaterskloof Dam, the picnic area of the Aphrodisiac Shack and the wetland we call Frog Bay - the orchestra is mesmerizing at night. Currently the Pear Dam has a grass issue which allows for dipping, cooling off and paddling as opposed to swim training for your next triathlon. Available for calls pretty much all the time, and if on site feel free to chat. Anyone on the farm can be approached for assistance and they will always attempt to help - or call someone who can. Deli's, a Smokehouse, the sports club, golf club, art galleries, wine and beer tasting, tractor museum and more Bicycle, but preferably car to go into town for supplies, but cycle or walk to the Sports Club or Ashack for sundowners or a picnic. Please note that your booking may be declined if you have chosen to book for 4 adults since the cottage is not suitable for 4 oldies, but rather suited to a couple and children or teenagers, since the second bed is informal and in the galley kitchen/ dining area. Also, if you are a new AirBnB profile guest with no history on your profile, then this may impact on our decision to host you. Kindly be aware that further information may be required to asses the booking request. Can get muddy in winter (and the temp can drop to around zero), so bring your wellies and warmth, and suntan lotion in summer for the average is upwards of 28 degrees Celsius. Also note that the cottage is quite close to the main road that feeds the town so it can get busy in peak times, but it is very quiet at night. This has only been an issue for less than 2% of our guests to date :). Please do some maps research of the property.
