Historic Richmond Tavern - Kitchen Chamber
Spend some time experiencing an authentically restored home that functioned as a tavern in the early 1800's. Includes modern plumbing, AC, and heating amenities but retains the historical character of when it was built. Only 25 min to Brimfield, Old Sturbridge Village, and other historic attractions. Also close to state parks, Yale Forest, and UConn. A one-of-a-kind space! As a professional preservationist, I've brought this house back to its original grandeur. Staying here will be a truly unique experience, as all the furnishings, decorations, and construction are true to the time period. The house was built in 1802 and was used as a tavern from 1812 to 1841 when Ashford was a stop on both the original Connecticut Path and the Hartford-Providence Turnpike. Guests have access to their private bedroom, shared baths, and sitting room. Kitchen access is limited to microwave use. Your stay at such a renowned historic property would not be complete without a tour of the entire house, which I am happy to provide. I will generally be around in the evenings to answer questions or address guests' needs. The property is located in the village of Westford (which is within the town of Ashford) and near other historic homes, an 1850's church, and down the street from the Westford Village Cemetery which dates back to the 17th century. Although public transportation is sparse in this rural area, Ashford is 1 hour 30 minutes drive from Boston's Logan Airport, 45 minutes from Bradley International Airport in Hartford, and 1 hour from Providence, RI.
