Casita Luna is your remote-yet-near, romantic, rustic, bright and breezy retreat, located in a historic Northern New Mexican village. Surrounded by high forest trails and inspiring mountain views, you'll enjoy complete privacy, solitude, and comfort. You may stay a week to a month in this remote location. Unending forest walks are right out the back door, and the fully-sanitized casita is equipped with a functional kitchenette. We implicitly follow Airbnb cleaning guidelines. 20-25 minutes from the Santa Fe plaza, Casita Luna, a quaint 160 square foot guest home, sits on 20-acre Rancho Escondido. The casita has a separate entrance, sunny windows, kitchenette, bathroom with shower, wood stove and wood, and a private deck for outdoor relaxing. A wonderful feature is an outdoor fireplace for s'mores and marshmallow roasts under a blanket of stars. There are local hiking trails right from the property, and miles upon miles of national forest trails for biking or hiking just down the road. Nearby are the delicious, bumbling Cafe Fina and Harry's Roadhouse for local dining (currently closed, take-out available). Access is via an absolutely gorgeous, picturesque, mountainous road the last three miles or so. The final mile is dirt road with a few very passable ruts and bumps. Residents and guests both access this area daily with both 4WD and 2WD cars. Some guests plan for daylight arrival or allow a few extra minutes for their first navigation. After your first journey into the neighborhood, you'll see that access is very simple. The kitchenette comes equipped with a four-burner stove, a coffee pot, toaster oven, microwave oven, and mini-refrigerator. Simple kitchen essentials are provided - a pot with lid, hot water pot, cutting board, mixing bowl, kitchen towels, utensils, kitchen knife, plates, cups, wine glasses, and drinking glasses. Essentials such as dish soap, sponges, plastic storage containers, trash bags, saran wrap and tinfoil are tucked away for your use. There is no oven. We follow social distancing requirements in New Mexico. Guests have access to me via phone call or text. I'll endeavor to take care of your needs just as efficiently as possible. This village grew from a historic, authentic northern New Mexico land grant. The experience will be purely northern New Mexican - rustic, humble, and unassuming. Casita Luna and it's main home, Rancho Escondido, are tucked away in a private corner of the village. The property edges a serene and historic arroyo topped by a forested ridge. Wildlife are a normal occurrence - deer and coyotes are frequent ranch visitors. This is a rural property in a rural setting! The final mile to the property is via a maintained dirt road, and the final block is rutted. During good weather, 2WD vehicles will access the property easily at slow speed, however during wintry, snowy or icy weather, a 4WD is a must. A radiant heater is the core heating source. A rack of firewood is provided for each reservation for use in the wood stove. There are plenty of empty drawers and a cabinet for storage. Cell signals are not strong in this remote village - you may link to WiFi, however, for reliable calling. See house manual for important guidance for WiFi calling. Bring your laptop for internet access, as well. This casita is small, however, it has a queen-sized bed as well as two large, comfy chairs.
