This is a wonderful country retreat consisting of spacious, sympathetically renovated, character Farmhouse/Villa with 5 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The farmhouse has a private pool, gardens, large terrace with beautiful views, WIFI, and is within walking distance of a vegetarian restaurant serving fresh home cooked food.(You need to book in advance). The Farmhouse/Villa First floor: The open plan living/dining area, with arch vaulted beamed ceilings, is furnished with quality country furniture, and has wooden flooring, traditional style windows and open fire place. There is SAT TV and a DVD/CD player. There is ample room for dining for 10. Leading from the living/diner is the traditional style kitchen complete with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, indoor BBQ and dishwasher. The living area also leads to a large outdoor first floor eating and relaxing terrace with amazing views over garden and private pool with mountains beyond Ground floor: The 4 double bedrooms, and one twin bedroom are on the ground floor, two with fireplaces and one with a high bed, and limited clothes space. There are also 2.5 bathrooms. Bathroom one has bath, separate shower, WC sink and bidet ;bathroom two is a shower room with shower WC, Bidet, sink etc; bathroom 3 has WC, bidet and sink Also on the ground floor is a second kitchen, closer to the pool, suitable for preparing snacks and for informal breakfast etc. There is also a covered eating area leading from this second kitchen/diner. Outside: Leading from the living area there is a large outdoor first floor private terrace with garden furniture and BBQ and wonderful views. In the garden there is the large private swimming pool (12m x 6M) with sunbathing area . Pool can be illuminated at night. Out room, with washing machine. We can arrange someone to cook a meal on request, with the option to learn how to cook the meal too if of interest. A little about location: The farmhouse is situated above the village of Poggio in the Garfagnana valley circa one hour north of Lucca. Surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and a fruit orchard, you can enjoy the marvellous view of the unspoilt Garfagnana valley and the surrounding green mountains. There is a vegetarian restaurant less than a 5 minute walk away. The local villages of Poggio and Camorgiano are 2km and 4km respectively from the property, the latter of which has a couple of restaurants and bars, an inhabited castle, supermarket, and small Monday morning market. Both villages have train stations for easy exploring. Castelnuovo, the local market town is around a 10/15 minute drive away, and the mediaeval town of Barga is a circa 30 minute drive. Take a trip to Pisa in 90 mins and Florence in under 2 hours... The real beauty of the area though is its proximity to two important Protected National Parks, the surrounding mountains and the hundreds of hill top villages where it seems that time has stood still.
