THE BEAUTIFUL CHATEAU DU PRELONG OF DRUILLAT IN THE AUVERGNE RHONE-ALPES
CHATEAU DU PRELONG is a beautiful house set in one of France’s loveliest locations at the foothills of the majestic Jura mountains and close to the historical and breathtaking city of LYON, a World Heritage Site. There are six bedroom suites of the highest quality with fully-fitted luxury bathrooms and a dedicated children's room and playroom. The chateau can be booked for a minimum period of six nights for families and groups which is especially popular through the summer months, Christmas, New Year, Easter and the skiing season. It is also a suitable venue as a family base for weddings or for businesses to host company conferences and team-building breaks. Standing in its own grounds the CHATEAU dates from 1750 and is just outside a charming village called DRUILLAT (pronounced ‘drewya’) which has its own boulangerie and restaurant. The nearest international airports are St. Exupery, LYON (30 minutes) and GENEVA ( 60 minutes) and the A42 passes only five minutes away. The drive from Calais is little more than six hours on the autoroute and there are TGV trains direct from St. Pancras in London to LYON. In addition to the luxury bedroom suites there are two fully equipped, spacious kitchens with tables and seating adjacent to the dining room which has a table that can seat 16. There is an exceptionally large galleried entrance hall with a wood-burner (for the colder weather) and comfortable seating in addition to a games room (with a full-size snooker table, table football, and a pinball machine), a table tennis room, a sitting room with French windows opening out on to a garden terrace, a gym and laundry and, for those seeking quiet and some peace, a large well-stocked library. In the grounds is a 20-metre protected swimming pool (open May to September) with a large sun-bathing terrace with loungers, parasols and seated tables. There is parking for up to eight cars, a driveway around the house and your privacy is protected with electronic gates. Additional amenities include super-comfortable mattresses, luxury Egyptian cotton bedlinen, double pillows, duvets, bed covers and large, fluffy bath towels, hand towels, bath mats and towelling robes. Coffee and tea facilities are available 24 hours a day and a handbook is provided that tells you everything you need to know about local sights, attractions, activities, shops, supermarkets, the nearby pharmacy, restaurants and how to get the best out of a holiday in one of the loveliest areas kin France. The handbook also familiarizes you with the general facilities of the CHATEAU. Druillat’s immediate surroundings offer every holiday pursuit including kayaking, cycling, walking, horse riding, pedaloing, cave exploring, driving through vineyards and skiing in the winter months. There is little to beat kayaking along the lovely River Ain, pulling off for a picnic, a swim or just a beer.
