The four-star graded Queen of Calitzdorp guesthouse is situated in the centre of Calitzdorp which is famous as the "Port Wine Capital" of South Africa. Several wine cellars and restaurants are within walking distance. The main building was built around 1910 and got fully renovated in 2015. Our fifteen luxury rooms are furnished to the highest standard with elegant solid wood furniture. The bathrooms boast glass enclosed showers and the double basins have granite vanity counter tops. Our exclusive room 2 is situated in the main building. It has an extra length King size bed which can be converted into 2 twin beds, as seen on the pictures. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate. This room comes with a private balcony and has views onto the pool and garden. Breakfast menus are changed regularly to reflect seasons and to celebrate the local food and wine festivals. In true Klein Karoo hospitality style, we believe in using fresh, raw ingredients and the very best quality meats, eggs, cheeses etc. available in the area. A welcome glass of port is always available. Our beautiful garden feels like a lush green oasis with many quiet spots to relax and enjoy the abundant bird life. Pool-side service is available during the day. Day trips in the area can be suggested for self-drive or arranged for you with our tour guide partners. The Queen of Calitzdorp is largely powered by solar panels and we have implemented up-to-date environmental standards through-out. The Queen of Calitzdorp is situated just off Route 62 and provides easy access to many well known mountain passes, the local hot springs and world famous Cango caves.
