Its main sights are a medieval castle and a late Romanesque church. The town is situated at the border between the Austrian Weinviertel and Southern Moravia in the Czech Republic. During the Cold War the so-called “Iron Curtain“, the border to what is now the Czech Republic, was impassable. Today the Czech Republic is part of the Schengen area, so Mikulov or Znaim are within easy reach for nice trips to our neighbouring country.
