Up the hand-made oak stairs you again see the distant views south over Hadrian’s Wall towards County Durham. The master bedroom is spacious, with old beams a-plenty, a chaise longue, bookcase, rocking chair and separate private bathroom with underfloor heating, large bath and separate shower as well as WC and basin. The second bedroom, also a double, has more old beams, Velux windows with blackout blinds and a gable-end window looking west over the paddock to the wood. Its en-suite shower room has a toilet, basin and large shower. The Old Woodworker's Cottage is just ten minutes' drive from Corbridge and Hexham and half an hour from Newcastle International Airport and the buzz of Newcastle itself, with its historic streets, vibey nightlife and world class cultural attractions like the Sage Gateshead. The cottage is in the Tyne Valley, home to Hadrian's Wall and countless Castles and smart country pubs. Or drive past the Angel of the North to visit Durham Cathedral 45 minutes away; then head northeast to the historic Northumberland Coast where endless sandy beaches echo to the sounds of Viking raids and Monks' prayers. The English Lake District, home of Wordsworth, is an hour's drive to the west, and Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders an easy trip up the nearby A68. Hadrian's Wall itself - like Durham Cathedral, a World Heritage Site - is just a mile or two to the south. Converted in 2017, the Old Woodworker's Cottage celebrates the artistry of the grand old craftsman Bill Cuthbertson, whose picture adorns the kitchen walls alongside some of his ancient woodworking tools. Converted regardless of cost, it is a welcoming, warm and historic base from which to explore this amazing part of the world, where the skies go on forever and the stars will take your breath away. Guests have a private garden with patio tables and chairs, a private BBQ, and shared access to a 1-acre paddock with trampoline, and a 5-acre wood with swings, slide, a treehouse and endless walks in paths cut through the long grass - all with heart-stopping views to the north and south. The owner lives next door and will meet guests when possible. There is a lockbox to access the cottage keys on arrival. The cottage sits near two others on this former sheep farm in the Tyne valley, one of the most deserted parts of the UK. The nearest village is a mile away, but you have all mod cons including fast wifi and good mobile phone access.  The cottage is 0.7 miles from the A68. Visitors need a car and have access to ample on-site free parking. Guests will have a welcome pack on arrival including wine, fruit and a cake. Luxury hotel-grade linen and towels are provided free of charge. There is unlimited hot water from the biomass boiler. A starter supply of logs, kindling and firefighters is provided for the wood burning stove.
